View Full Version : Strange question... about the Zaandam

I'm going to admit right up front that this is a strange question.
Somewhere, on some thread, I read about bringing clothes pins to put on the bottom of the shower curtain in efforts to keep it from sticking to you.
I'm in the middle of packing for our cruise next week on the Zaandam and remembered this suggestion.
Can any past Zaandam guest please tell me if this is necessary? :o
I've been on some cruise ships that had shower doors instead of curtains... What does the Zaandam have?
Do I need to go by some clothes pins?
Thanks !!

We were on the Zaandam last October and never had a problem with the shower curtain - not sure why you would need clothes pins?

Zaandam has shower curtains in all but Penthouse Suite. I have never needed a clothespin but remember reading someone say they use one.

From what I understood, the shower curtain wasn't weighted properly and would stick to you...;)
The original thread recommended that you place the clothes pins on the bottom of the curtain to weight them down and keep them from 'blowing' into you.
But.. (no pun intended)... it sounds like you didn't have that problem on the Zaandam ?!

No problem for us - the shower curtain does not even get close to you. We were in a suite so maybe some of the other cabins are different.

We just got off the Zaandam in January, never had a problem with shower curtains,we were in an inside cabin Main Deck.No reason to take pegs but no reason not to. Have a great cruise.

The shower curtains have small magnets at the bottom to stick them to the tub.
I suppose if they were missing the curtain might have a tendency to want to stick to you if you brushed up against it & weren't soap-slick enough.
It's funny. When I'm in the shower on these ships the curtain seems a whole lot closer than other people describe it.
I wonder why? :p

Shower curtains stayed where they were supposed to on our two Zaandam cruises.
Clothes pins are optional

We have been on inside (shower only) and outside cabins on the Zaandam and never had a problem.

We are on the Zaandam this July (Alaska). I've noticed that there is not much in the way of comments on this ship as compared to others. Your question on shower curtains was unique.
Maybe it's due to the itineraries, Hawwai and Alsaka?

I don't see an issue, especially with Valentine's Day coming up! Leave those clothes pins at home, lather that bad boy shower curtain up real well with soap, start doing the Hokey Pokey and let the good times roll!;)

It's like the duct tape that everyone recommends taking. ;)

It's the salt air that make it seems closer than it really is. :D

As the clothespins will take up very little space, why not just pack them? You can toss them if you don't need them. If you leave things on the clothesline to dry, the clothespins would keep them from sliding to the center, too.

Readytocruise, Thanks for the input.
But I don't actually have any clothes pins.. i have to go find them somewhere...
I guess I was trying to figure out it they were really needed before I go hunting for them.:) (I guess at the local "clothes pin store".)
Thanks all... based on your replies...I'm going to take my chances with the shower curtain!:D

Clothes pins come in handy if you have a veranda if you want to put your swimsuit out to dry and don't want it to blow away.
In Colorado our local "clothes pin" stores are called Target and Walmart!

Clothes pins also come in handy if your drapes won't close all the way. Seems there is always that annoying crack in the drape that the light shines through when the suns comes up. We always store them in our luggage and even came in handy on a Las Vegas trip a couple weeks ago. NEEDED to sleep in....

Cheryl, thanks.... but we aren't lucky enough to have a window. Actually, it's one of the perks of an inside room... best place in the entire world to take an afternoon nap and not have sunlight in your eye!;)
But I can appreciate the need for other lucky cruisers... with those sea/sun views.
Thanks again......!
