Just curious since we have never cruised this line before and my DH is a big room service person...Is Holland the same as other cruise ships regarding room service? Can we get dining room items as well?

Can't say if HAL is the same, as I don't know how other lines handle room service.
On HAL there will be a breakfast order form left on your pillow at night. It will include fruits and juices, breads, muffins, eggs, breakfast meats, beverages. If there is something you want not listed just add it on. If it's available it will be delivered. The meal will be delivered during a brief window of time of your choice. You can also call in the morning if you want to order then.

I've never done room service lunch, so can't help you there.

As far as dinner goes you can order from the dining room menu during the first half-hour that the dining room is open.

Otherwise there is a 24-hour room service menu in your cabin. It includes a few light choices as well as food for "mal de mer" sufferers.

Hi Ruth - I have a question.-- Is it the first half hour that the dining room is open for the evening? Or the first half hour of your assigned seating time? Can you specify what time you want the food delivered?
Thanks,
Pat.

You have to order during the first half hour the dining room is open for dinner but can specify to have your dinner delivered at a later time. We have had many room service breakfasts and mid afternoon sandwiches a few times but never dinner.

Hi sail- Thanks for the reply.-more questions- I've never ordered dinner in the cabin.
Do they bring all the food at once? On a cart or on a tray? the breakfast tray seems crowded and that only juice and coffee - Do they serve you? I'm thinking no.
Can I order room service lunch from the dining room at lunch time?
I'm not sure I would like dinner in the cabin.....Or...maybe I would...on the verandah.
Pat.

I've never ordered dinner in the cabin, but my understanding is that all food is delivered at once.

I'm sorry, but I can't answer your other questions. At least I don't know the answers, and I'd rather not make any up! :D (credibility and all, don'cha know.)

They bring all the food all at once on trays which they will put where you ask them to. They do not serve you, but the food always came hot for us and we tipped generously as there were a number of trays the room service attendant brought in.

The shrimp cocktails and chicken caesar salad make a great snack while sitting on your balcony in the afternoon!

We have eatten dinner on our balcony. It was very lovely although we ate the dinner in a hot to cold kind of order as it is all delivered at once. After a long day walking in port it's nice to put on your comfys and watch the world from your balcony occasionally!

I don't know how other cruiselines are as far as room service goes, but on our trip aboard the "Z" in Sept. we ordered breakfast the first morning and it was very good! Coffee was ordered every morning after and came ontime. Since we had early dining we would order a club sandwich and a bagel with salmon & cream cheese every night/morning at around 2:00a.m. It always came about 15 minutes after ordering and was very good as well! The menu had a nice variety. There were never any problems so we always tipped a little extra. Some mornings I would just head up to the Lido, grab a few things and head back to the cabin. There's nothing like having a snack on your balcony while watching the sea!! Nancy:)
