View Full Version : How Many Days do you have on HAL?

...and do you go to the Mariner's parties?
There was a couple on our last cruise who were recognized for having over 575 days on HAL (!!!)
At the Mariners reception, the lady sitting next to me leaned over and said, "We had lunch with them (the aforementioned couple) yesterday. They told us that they didn't feel like packing, so they decided to stay for another week!"
On our way off the ship we saw them in their wheelchairs being pushed by stewards back up the ramp after checking in ashore, grinning like little kids...

We've got a long way to go... only 7 as of now. Hopefully by this time next year, that number will have gone up.

47 today, 54 next month. Is there a 50-day pin?

So far we have zero, but we'll fix that with one long cruise in January of 112 days (or nights - confusing, as we cross the International Date Line and either gain or lose one). Do you suppose we'll get pins at various times during the cruise?

Slinkiecat-
I would think they might as there will be cruisers who are only doing portions of the world cruise . You will get 25, 50 then 100 days at sea, all in the same cruise!
Can't wait to read your posts!

Which ship are you on? I think you've said before but I don't have time to be on the board each day. Will really look forward to hearing all about the trip - need anyone to help with baggage? :D
If you don't receive your pins on board I'm sure they will be acknowledged and you'll receive them later - we're in the 365+- day/night bracket.
January is not that far away - hope you're keeping tabs on how long essentials, i.e. face creams, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.etc.etc. last - they probably won't be available on board. Don't forget spare glasses, contact lens and cleaners, 'scripts and all those other necessities.
Bon Voyage....................

To date 44 days. 51 in January, 61 in April.
Used to go to the Mariner's party, then they moved it to the middle of the day and it never seemed the same.

As of this posting...68 days with 7 more in about 2 weeks! Someone asked if there is an HAL pin for 50 days...yes! You get the blue pin for 25 days and the red pin for 50. Then the next award is for 100 days...which I am trying hard to get to! And yes...we enjoy attending the Mariner receptions 'cause I like to see who on that particular cruise has the most days sailing with HAL. On our Noordam transatlantic sailing...an elderly gentleman had close to 800 days!
Happy sailing to all!

Congratulations ekerr, that is fantastic. That is actually our goal or I should say it is mostly DH's goal:D
We are really is new to this with only 14 days right now but a month from now we will have just completed our 3rd cruise giving us 21. We will get out 25 day pin on the Westerdam in March, By a year from now we will have 42. It looks like it may be a a few more years before we get to 100.
Our last cruise was our first time to attend a Mariner Reception and we actually enjoyed it and found it interesting so I do not see any reason to not go to them.
I actually get a kick out of seeing those that have so many days on HAL maybe it is mostly envy:o

We are at 46 days with another 11 to be added in November (Maasdam). We do attend the Mariner parties. Enjoy seeing the number of Mariners aboard and some of the huge numbers of days sailed. Our tablemates on the Prinsendam in May had over 700 HAL days. That is in addition to several transatlantic crossings on Cunard. Unbelievable!

Not enough! 71 days to date, with 11 more this New Year's, and first time in a full suite. I guess we'll get another red pin.

We just got our 25 day pins this past April! I guess we are the newbies of this ellite group! How I envy all of you with those months at sea! Oh to be able to afford a world cruise. I suppose I would have to join the crew to do that! Maybe HAL would sign up our barbershop quartet as entertainers for that trip......?

1029 days on HAL and counting. And, yes, we still go to the Mariner's Reception but because we have medals (DH has Gold and I have Platinum) I guess I won't get any more awards. DH will be just shy of his Platinum when we sail on the Maasdam next July. Still waiting for them to present us with a free cruise...I can dream can't I!!

Thanks TedC but I'll pass on that one!! Can have plenty of that at home when I want it...but I would take a nice FREE upgrade from HAL.

115 days with 17 days scheduled for 2005.
On my Zuiderdam cruise in April/04 there was a passenger that broke 1,000 days on HAL with that cruise. His "new" wife had over 700 days.

LizB,
Yes, we're booked on the "double-crossing" in July - and hope we have better weather than was experienced on the recent Rotterdam crossing.
Our most recent crossing was on the QE2, which was uneventful until the ship lost power after midnight as we approached NYC. Most pax were asleep and didn't realize we were adrift for a couple of hours.

50+ with another 7 coming in December. However while we enjoy HAL we continue to sample other Cruiselines, sort of like working our way down the buffet line. Truly enjoyed Orient, hoping someday to try RSSC and considering giving Princess another go next May. So many choices, so little time...and money.

Wow - this is amazing!
Congrats to you all - I only have a piddling 14 days under my belt w/ another 7 booked for next year (so far...):)
LizB - I think the CD said something about when you go over 1000 days you get a seat on the HAL board of directors, and when you go over 2000, you get your name on a ship (the Lizdam - Hmmm, nice ring to it!);)

251 days in 15 cruises; next cruise will bring it to 286 days on HAL.
If I had done those other 34 days on HAL instead of other lines I would be getting my 300-day medal next summer, but then I might not have realized that HAL is the line for me. Ah well, will just have to get the medal on the cruise after. Something else to look forward to. :)
My roommate on the '03 cruise had over 3000 days on HAL! Can you imagine?

We've got 83 days under our ever expanding belts! We have 2 cruises booked for next year and hope to cross the 100-day barrier on the Prinsendam next summer. :)
I think we have missed only one Mariner reception.
I am impressed with some of the days accumulated by some of our fellow Mariners, especially LizB1! Hope you get that free cruise or put on the board of directors, or both!!

If I'm correct, I have 135 days thus far, and 10 more coming on the Maasdam next week! After you get your copper medal, it seems like a LONG time between rewards!

Dolly was an amazing person wasn't she. We ate at the Captain's Table with her on that cruise and couldn't believe what a lively lady she was. I thought her numbers were more like 2,000+ days (still amazing) as she had done so many World Cruises with HAL.

WOW, I am really impressed and very jealous over so many of you having so many days. Do those of you that have more than a 100 days or close remember each every cruise or do only some stand out? I am one of these people who remembers lots of stupid details and tends to remember every vacation. Since I am only been on 4 cruises I thus far remember all of them but something tells me after get a lot of days on HAL they will all kind of melt together:eek:

It seems that DH and I are among the very few with zero days on HAL, but in one cruise starting in January 2005 we will have 112 or 113, depending on how they count it (crossing the International Dateline once). The more I hear about HAL, the more excited I am about this cruise. Still a long countdown, but here in the deepest South the people move slowly but the time moves fast.

Liz, you may be right about Dolly's total. In either case she has an impressive record of cruise days.
You certainly are right that she's quite a gal. I'd toddle on in at 2-ish and she'd still be out dancing! Never a worry about waking her up in the wee hours, that's for sure.

It's called The World of Residencesea or The World for short. She was docked next to us in Costa Rica a few years ago. Was not impressed by the exterior and as they wouldn't let us on board, have no idea what the interior looks like....apparently very beautiful.
The funny thing was they had hot tubs on a number of the balcony's that looked more like porcelain bath tubs. :D
