Hello,

What equipment is found in the gym, and what hours is it open? Are there television monitors - or does everything face out towards the sea? How about portable fans - are they kept there or can I request one?

The fitness area had both free weights and machines. The cardio equipment included treadmills, bikes, rowers, and stair climbers (I did not notice the specific brands.) All of the cardio equipment faces out to the sea, but some (most notably the treadmills) have TV screens on them. You use your own headphones to listen. There were also at least two mounted TVs to watch that usually had the closed captioning on.

There is also an aerobics area with classes throughout the day. There would be one or two early in the morning which were free; the rest were $11 for each session.

The "official" opening time was 6:00am and that would be when the lights would automatically come on. However, the entry door was never locked on our cruise, and people would come in earlier and make their way in the dark to the treadmills on the other side of the room and get an early start. It was not unusual to find 5 or so people already walking or running when the lights came on. I don't know what time the gym closed because I would go early in the morning (I would be one of the people running in the dark :)).

I think the gym closes at 9pm.

I appreciate the information! thank you both so much! I was hoping to find an elliptical on board -oh well. Do you know if the treadmills can be raised to an incline?

Maybe I can get a fan from the cabin steward and just bring it with me. I tend to get really hot, really fast and the fans built into the equipment never hit me because I'm not working out in high heels.

The treadmills definitely can be raised to an incline. What's more, I am pretty certain that the cardio area also had ellipticals. (Not completely positive about that since I spent most of my time in the gym on the treadmills.)

Onboard Ryndam, as we speak. The treadmills can be raised at an incline, there are ellipticals on board (I'll count 'em for you next time I'm in there). Operating hours for the Gym are officially 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Let me know f you need any other questions answered

There is a water fountain in the gym near the free weights.
