It's President's Day that week and school vacation for my 11 year old son. We are currently booked on a 4 day Carnival Baja cruise because there's a slight possibility my son may be in a soccer tournament one or both of those weekends but the chances are slim. The 4 day leaves on Monday and comes back on Friday so suits are schedule. But, we are doing Carnival at Xmas with the whole family, and Disney just before that, so I would like to try something more subdued and relaxing (I work an intense job and can picture myself lounging with a good book all week while being fed :-).
I'm looking at Holland America because I can buy a Platinum Policy allowing cancellation for any reason up to 24 hours prior to sailing with a 90% refund. One of the better policies. Not to mention the ship looks and sounds wonderful to me. My husband and I are close to 50 and this ship appears to suit our needs. But my son is social and likes entertainment. The pool isn't a big deal to him - we sailed the Voyager this summer and he never went in it. But, he hung around at the kids club most of the time and always found somebody to hang out with.
Can we expect there will be kids his age on this sailing? What are the kids hang out rooms like? Is there a video arcade? Not knowing if he'll be happy on this ship is what's preventing me from booking at this point.
