This is the first time that we got on board credits with our cruise (Apr 24//09 Ryndam) and we were just wondering if it could be used towards gratuities, gift shop or alcohol purchase? :)

Yes to all three. You could also use them against shore excursions and Internet usage and photos.

They will offset the $11/p/d Service Charge but not any cash gratuities.

WOW, that was a quick response to our question. We really appreciate just knowing what to do and how it works with these on board credits. We're newbies on this forum and will definitely be using this for all our future questions. Thank you so much! :D

I just wanted to jump in here and welcome you to the HAL board.

By the way, it's fun to glance at your onboard account covering the first day or two. The shipboard credit may well show you are ahead moneywise.

Here's hoping you have a wonderful cruise:)

Thanks for the warm welcome and tip! How do we check our on board account while on the ship?

You can go to the Front Desk at any time during the sailing and request a printout. Also, you will receive a prelimiary statement your final evening onboard ... a good opportunity to review it and dispute any charges if necessary. Morning of disembark, a final statement will be delivered to your cabin.

If you own 100 or more shares of Carnival stock have your broker send to HAL the confirmation of the ownership and you will get either a $100.00 or a $250.00 credit to your on board account depending on the length of your cruise.

A nice perk.
