As we await the opening of the Regent web site's new 'Already Booked' section for reserving/booking shore excursions and restaurant reservations in (hopefully!) another week, I have a question about how -- at least in the past -- to best get shore excursions for 4 people in 2 cabins.

We're traveling with my parents on an upcoming June cruise, and would like to do a number of excursions with them. We've cruised with them before, don't think we were concerned about excursion capacity on those trips; this time, in Alaska, many of the excursions for helicopters or small boats have very small capacities, so I'm just wondering what the best way to do this is/was. I know that things may be different when the new site launches, but in the past, was it possible for one of us to put in a request for 4 people for an excursion? Or do we each have to request/reserve/book for the 2 people in our cabin, and hope that we both make the cutoff and get in?

If the new site lets us actually book (rather than just submit a request for) excursions, then obviously things will be different. But until we find out, I just wanted to be prepared based on past practice so we can act quickly once the site opens. Thanks.

Are you all under the same booking number? As I remember, that is how you accessed the "my cruises", now "aready booked" cruises before. From there, you just name the number of slots you want for each excursion.

Or, if you don't have the same booking number, just pre-book when you can for the 4, then go and see the excursion desk and tell them you are together. This worked well in December on the PG, where all of the excursions in the Marquesas were jeeps with 4 people per vehicle. I believe they reminded people in the destination lecture to indicate that to the tour desk. Everything turned out fine.

Although we booked at the same time and through the same TA, we and my parents have two different booking numbers. So Wendy, you're saying that if I indicated 4 people on the excursion request, they'd accept that and recognize it just meant I wanted to go on the excursion together with people from another cabin? I had some vague recollection that the MyCruises page for excursion requests would only let me choose 1 or 2 people, but I might be remembering that wrong. Yet I know when we made advance dinner reservations in the past, it let us specify 4 people. (And once I get this sorted out how it used to work, it'll probably all be different with the new system anyway!) Thanks for the help.

No, I mean you should book separately, using the different booking numbers. Then tell the excursion desk that you're together, when you board. Should not be a problem.
