we've booked on the 11th deck and now are worried about the noise from the crows nest and the explorations cafe at night, does anyone have any experience about the nightlife noise in this location? what time do the activities close?

There should be very, very little noise (if any) coming from the Crow's Nest/Explorations Cafe. The Crow's Nest is not an entertainment venue on the E-dam.
When I was aboard there was a piano player; it was background music only, and that ended by 11:00. There were a few groups of people engaging in quiet conversation. There were also a few people using Explorations, but they were also quiet.

Thank you. I was afraid of live band music thumping the walls. Do you know which lounges are the lively ones?

Mainstage, Queen's Lounge, Piano Bar, Northern Lights and sometimes Sports Bar and Ocean Bar - all of which are on Deck 2 & 3.

Thank you. Our son and his wife from New York are traveling with us and I've read here that this ship has nightlife for late night people.

This is good news! I just booked a CA guarantee. There's a good chance I'll be upgraded to a verandah cabin since there are only 4 CAs. But, if there's no upgrade, I'm glad to hear there's no noise issues from the Crow's Nest! I should get an excellent internet signal up there ;-)

We actually booked a VT with 3 other couples yesterday and within 3 hours decided to change it ours to a VF as we were dissappointed in the tiny balcony not big enough for a chair even...they told us Oh you have a deck right by you ...but we like private time too!
We were also worried about the noise factor...Good luck on this decision . I will tell you this is our7th cruise with Holland and we have never been disappointed yet!!

I know VT and VF are the same price - but do the VF balconies have the clear plexiglass?? I wouldn't book a VT (due to the small balcony), but when I book a balcony I certainly won't book a solid steel wall that blocks my view while sitting.
Although, on our recent Westerdam cruise we had an SA on deck 7 and due to some windy weather our plexiglass wall was so covered in salt for a day we couldn't see through it ;-)

- but do the VF balconies have the clear plexiglass??VFs on deck 4 (4005 to 4042) have the steel-wall railings, while VFs on deck 5 all have plexiglas. The deck 5 VE and VF verandahs are just 4.5 ft deep, as compared to side VA/VB/VC which are 6 ft deep.
