We are sailing on the Journey on March 8th. Where does the ship dock there...what are some suggestions for what to do on Dominica?

When you first click on Boards in CC, scroll down the page. You will see "Ports of call". Dominica is listed there. Click on Dominica and read what other CC have done and suggest.

When we were in Dominica we did a tour that took us to Trafalgar Falls, Tutu Gorge (sp), and Champaign Beach.

The ship docked in downtown Roseau. The ship come in thru James Bay.

Trafalgar Falls and the "Baths" are great! They have a beautiful rain forest.

Was on the Emerald for NYE cruise had a tour with BENO. He did a great job, really showed us a lot of the island and was great with our kids too. His wife made the kids some sort of orange drink which the kids loved and he had local beer and sodas for the adults. I would say out of all the private tours that I have done in cruising, as I never use the ships tours, Beno's tour was one of the best that I have had. His Van was clean and cool, the AC worked very well and it had multiple windows for when we went into the mountains to enjoy the cool breeze

You can just e-mail him and he will take you to see what ever you want. The tour that we did was some of the basic sights but with his imput and knowledge of the island. We also beat the ship tours to all of the spots which was nice so there were no crowds. We went to the Emerald Pool which is up in the mountains, saw some fantastic views and scenary on the way, he pointed out all of the fruit trees and flowers and a lot of the schools and local buildings on the way. The emerald pool is a short 15 minute hike to a water fall with a pool you can swim in at the bottom. The water is a little chilly but the locals say it adds 5 to 10 years to life:confused: . We stoped at Mr Nice fruit stand to sample some of the local fruits I wont spoil it for you but worth the stop. We went to the Twin Water falls for some more photo ops. It is a beautiful island and it was a nice trip in the middle of our cruise of mostly beach islands for us. All of the local people we encountered were friendly and happy to have us there. Beno was great with my kids as well. I believe he charges $40 pp and his van I believe holds 14 people. There were 9 in our group and we booked a private tour with him. Seeing the sights is really what this island is about and you get so much more with a local tour than just taking a taxi and getting out or worse a ship tour IMO.

Enjoy your cruise

M & C BellCBell, when I was on the Journey last month, the ship docked at Woodbridge Bay Pier (i.e., the container ship terminal), which is located about a mile north of Roseau. There's not much to see or do in Roseau on your own, and passengers who attempted to do so (myself included) were very disappointed. I suggest you book an excursion to the Emerald Pool and/or Trafalgar Falls.
