Just wanted to get opinions on the Zuiderdam pools.
The central pool area on the Z has a retractable cover. Even with the cover open, the pool area has a closed-in feeling. On most ships the pool deck and the deck above form one large "pool area". This is not the case on the Z as the deck above the pool is almost completely blocked by the retractable cover. We are not pool people (spend most sea days on our balcony) but we did pass thru a few times and there was very little air flow in the pool area. Very uncomfortable in July.
The aft pool on the top deck is more wide open and was almost always empty, probably because there is absolutely no shade in this area. It would be nice if HAL would install some type of cover around the front and sides of this area leaving the center/rear exposed. They could use a "canvas type" cover much like the ones most ships have on the rear of the ship which is usually an outside dining area.
Not complaining. Just wanted to see how others felt.
