Does anyone know what HAL's policy is on bringing wine on board?

We just sailed the ZUD and brought on 8 bottles of wine and a bottle of Champagne. We carried it all on in a wine box - clearly labled wine - no one checked or cared. We drank some of it in our stateroom - the other bottles we brought to the dining room each night. We were charged $15 corkage for each bottle. The steward saved unfinished bottles for us and brought them back out for the next evening. Very nice.

We brought on 2 bottles of wine on the Zuiderdam 10/2 in FLL. After checking in and upon going through x-ray we were asked to bring our bottles over to a couple of crew members for inspection. Once they saw it was wine bottles, we had no problem bringing them onboard.

Bringing Alcoholic Beverages Onboard
Except for wine and champagne, alcoholic beverages purchased in the vessel's shops or otherwise brought on the ship cannot be consumed on the ship. Bottles and other containers will be collected for safekeeping and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the voyage.

If you are are doing a B2B do they still deliver the alcohol you purchased at the end of your first week?
I have also read that HAL allows you to purchase and take with you any liquor purchased on the last night of your sailing. Does this hold true for a B2B?
Thanks,

I am hoping the answer to both of your questions is yes! We are doing BtoBs in Dec. and STT is on our first cruise, hoping what we buy in STT is delivered to our cabin at the end of that week. I have done this before and yes it was delivered. This time I insisted on two separate booking numbers specifically for this reason. Time will tell.....jean

We received our liquor (bought in St. Thomas) on the last night of our first cruise. We had two booking numbers and had to change cabins.

Have they started inspecting checked luggage for liquor and soft drinks? I had a friend on NCL that had wine taken from his baggage. We have often taken caffeine free diet coke for my SO...that is all he drinks. I have been able to bring single bottles (i.e., local rum) on from the islands without trouble in the past and they pass it through the scanners.

HAL does have caffeine free diet Coke on board. There's no need to lug your own if you don't want to.
So far there are no reports of HAL removing liquor and soda from checked luggage---just carry-on.

So what your all saying is Wine/Champagne are fine. Beer and Hard Liquor NOT so fine.
I have checked on this for our cruise too and the way it sounds is you can get beer and liquor if you order it from room services/room service. I don't know what the cost is but I'm sure it's not cheap.. I read someplace a 6 pack is 18 dollars. Gimme a break. Who's getting the shaft there?... the thirsty traveler!
Does anyone know what a bottle of liquor cost onboard that's sent to your room? I'll shut up now. LOL
