As some of you know cruise ships are going to be floating hotels for Super Bow XXXIX in Jacksonville in 2005. I am one of the lucky ones :D who is going to volunteer on one of the ships. HAL will have 3, Carnival 1, and Radisson 1, all located in and around Jax on the St. Johns River. The ships will act as bed/breakfast accomadations with entertainment/dining packages available for other times. The Carnival Celebration will have a 1000 person giant party game day  , with buffet meal and bar and the game showing on board. I am so looking forward to this fun time. Not sure just what we will be doing, but just to be onboard will be great. Anyone else out there volunteering?

Sounds like a fun time to me and wish we could be there, but we'll be sitting in front of a nice fire in the fireplace and watching the TV instead.

Sure hope the Patriots make it AGAIN!!

Sounds interesting. Just hope you are doing volunteer work near a TV during the game.:)

You didn't say what it is you are volunteering to do? Or if you are volunteering to do it on an HAL ship or a Carnival ship.

I think all of the cabins are "spoken" for but I can be mistaken. I know there had been inquiries on bringing in cruise ships on private charters also, not sure if the city/organizing commitee were able to accomodate any of these requests.

Hi:) ALL the cabins on All the ships are already reserved....for Corporate folks/NFL folks.

Most of the hotels within a 100 mile radius are probably 99% filled at this point.

Each team in the NFL is allocated a certain % of tickets. IF you are part of the 2 teams you are still not automatically guaranteed tickets...they are usually put into a lottery type system for season ticket holders.

Blueyes, have fun volunteering!

Hi everyone else too:)

Hi all!! ;)

I think anyone's chances of getting on the ships are slim to none, from everything they told us at our first training....I had hoped to get on either the Volendam or Zaandam, but I live north of Jax and signed up to work at the cruise terminal before I knew where the ships would be located. All of the HAL ships will be at the Talleyrand Docks near the stadium. The Radison will be downtown. For easier driving and parking etc. I will probably stay at the terminal, which is north of town only about 35 minutes from me. The Carnival Celebration will dock there. I think mainly we will be just a friendly face to welcome and help people find there way around Jax.

Hey GATOUR!!!

I just looked at you countdown clock. When are you going on the Coral Princess? We are on the 1/17/05 Panama Canal cruise. I think you are going before us.

You are correct. We are going on the Coral over New Year's. The ship sails 28 Dec.

Too bad you didn't get the Zaandam. We went on her earlier this year and I thought she was an elegant ship.

Inside joke :D with friends who went on Brilliance cruise in 2002. I live on 50 acres complete with pastures and cows....one friend sent me a picture of a ram-shackled run down boat that was labeled a "southern red-neck cruise ship" I replied that was the "SS Cowpaddy" and everyone was invited on a cruise in January 2003...

Great story. Thanks. ya gotta love that GA humor. (I was born in Savannah.)

I think us rednecks ought to gather up the chirrun, cousins and so forth and charter a bote and set it up right.:D

-First off, there's a big Number 3 on 1 stack and a NASCAR flag on the other
-The aft pool is for bait
-Dining stewards are all former Hooters girls in Daisy Dukes
-Pinnacle serves pulled pork AND wings
-The Salon offers "Big Hair Specials" on port days
-The muster drill is replaced by an inflatable Bud bottle in every cabin
-Casino is a Dunk-em tub with that short Dixie Chick on the stool
-Shore excursions include Pork Rind Factory Tour

Y'all come! :)
