Has anyone done the Catamaran Sailing & Beach Tour out of Ocho Rios? We've already done Dunns River Falls, and are considering just staying on the ship -- but we love to snorkel. Any opinions on this excursion?

Barb-

I took this shore excursion in 2001, but it was great! The snurkeling was in a protected inlet with amazing coral! The fish were awesome. The beach was private and had we had a blast. We didn't do too much on the beach as neither of us wanted to get out of the water. The brain coral was awesome! You actually cruise past Dunn River Falls to get to the snorkelling beach. The rum punch helped us get into the Bob Marley/Jamacian music and dance instruction ( okay that was after a couple of punches! ) I recommend it!

Thanks so much for the quick reply - I just needed one recommendation to push me over the edge! Those Jamaicans sure know how to have fun! Our ride back from the Falls wasn't long - but they had that boat rocking! I'm off to the Shore Excursion page!

Please let me know what you think of it, as we are thinking of doing it in May :) Thanks! :)

I hate to rain on your parade but we did that one in 2000 and were sorely disappointed. We did the Fury in Cozumel and loved it. The crew was top-notch and the catamaran was great, so when we got to Ocho, we decided to do that one. It was not great. The catamaran was pretty old or worn anyway and the crew was more interested in selling their junk than they were about the passengers. We are not expert snorkelers and would have liked to have someone at least give us some pointers. They let us off the boat and we were on our own. All they said was stay away from the coral, the jelly fish are bad. You might enjoy it but we've decided to never get off the boat again in Jamaica.

This is a fun and entertaining tour. Be sure you bring along some sunscreen. I got quite a burn on my shoulders. What a beautiful spot.

NASMAS-Hello! I noticed on another post that you stayed in S7069 on the Zuiderdam. How was your cabin?? We're booked in that suite and was wondering if this was one of the ones that people in the elevators can see on to the verandah? Any info would be greatly appreciated! This is our first HAL cruise and we're very excited! We've abandoned RCCL for the first time in years!!

We've abandoned RCCL for the first time in years!!That was on the 09/04 cruise that we had to cancel because of the hurricane so I dont' know. There is one cabin between 7069 & the elevator and when we booked, our understanding was it was only the one next to the elevator but I have since read that even those weren't too bad. Sorry, wish I had gone and wish I could tell you. Maybe someone else reading this can help.
