Would anyone have any advance knowlage how HAL will reposition a ship to Australia in the fall of 2010. This year they are going from HK to Singapore to Sydney. Looking to do that in Nov 2010. Just trying to plan longrange.

Jeffrey, There is a "Grand" cruise -normally on the "Amsterdam" and normally in the fall -To Australia/Asia -that sails our of the west coast and if you do the full cruise- sails back INTO the USA. If you are still working or can't do longish cruises -this is NOT for you. BUT if you are retired, it is ideal because no incredibly long flights! We did our first one [ Volendam] in 2002 and did half the cruise [ LONG flight to Singapore] Since then we've done 2 of the "Grand Asia/Pacific" and will be doing "Grand Australia/NZ" this autumn.
There are a number of advantages -no long flights, seeing things we NEVER imagined we'd ever see AND going BACK to see them a second or even a third time [ I'm thinking places LIKE Hong Kong-a favorite port] and the time to RE-greet old friends we made on cruises, and just the luxury of doing the kind of DREAM cruise.
There are also [perceived] disadvantages- these cruises are normally 64-67 days long with the parallel costs of longer cruises. Missing things such as VOTING or major holidays etc -LONG term plans require that. And being away from family for extended periods.
You might look into the itinerary for these cruises and see if they suit your plans.

thanks but I am staying in Australia for about 2 1/2 months after getting off in Sydney. And I don't mind flying. Kinda used to it.

Sorry Jig,
But no advances on what you have so far about the Volendam. The Amsterdam, however, is scheduled to go up the coast of ALASKA, over to JAPAN, around ASIA for a bit, and then down to DARWIN, and onto SYDNEY in October, November, 2010.
That was all I could find on www.cruisett.com (http://www.cruisett.com)
Bruce.

If you look at cruisett.com, click on cruise schedule for a ship, select the Amsterdam, then look at the month you would like to know about in 2010...
Good luck...

Also, the new brochure covering a lot of the recent redeploys is coming out relatively soon if I'm not mistaken. Travel agents usually see this first but it comes up quickly online once the changes have all been approved.

We are booked on the 34 day March 2010 cruise. There has been little response to a roll call and we are wondering if this cruise will happen. It has been updated and changed twice since we booked. Can you give any update on how it may be doing? I may be pushing the limits here, just anxious.
