Has anyone been to Half Moon Cay? We are in need of shade and was wondering if there are plenty of umbrellas to rent or if they run out. We were also wondering if it is worthwhile renting a cabana and if so which "color" location is best? We will be 11 people and only want to rent one cabana and take turns. Will this work? We are also interested in renting a hoby cat and was wondering if we have to rent it in advance so we are sure to get one before they sell out.We are going on the Ossterdam and would love any helpful tips or reccomendations. Thanks, Bonnie

I doubt that HAL will allow 11 people to use a Cabana by taking turns. They are only for 4 people and there is a charge for an extra person.
Why not rent some of the blue clam shells. They are only $9.00 each and have 2 lounges each of them. You could rent 5 for $54.00. These can be reserved now by going to the "Book Excursions" section on HAL's website.
There is no charge for the umbrellas, but last time we were there half of them were broken and I don't know if they have been replaced after the hurricane(s) hit the island.
Check the ShorEx list for the hoby cats. Don't know if they are listed there or not.

We'll be on the Oosterdam 11/28 -- Does anyone know where the clam shells are on HMC? We'd like to reserve one, but would rather be away from the crowds...

Renting the cabana is every bit worth the money in my opinon, you get service for 4 unless you pay for more, but as long as there are only 4-6 in there at any given time you should be ok, all the others can walk and get their own free Bar-B-Q food, there are lots of lounge chairs in front of all the cabanas. We let others around us use our shower andd snorkel gear and mats, our cabana guy said it was ok. :)
The clam shells are mostly down at the crowded end of the beach, at least last Aug. they were. We saw no umbrellas at all. Hope this helps :)
