I am fairly new around here, but have enjoyed RevNeals inputs. I have seen nothing from him lately. Is he alive and well? I don't want to be a nosey Nelly, but there are some posters that I immediately click on when I see a post or reply. Their input is invaluable for a newby like me. He is one of them. Hope all is well and he is just traveling at some faraway place or ministering to those in need.

Haven't seen him post since we got home Feb 24 from our cruises.

Hope all is well with Greg.

Ruth C mentioned something about him being busy with Lent and having to deal with family issues.

He's checking in here daily on a multiple basis though, he's just not posting

As a matter of fact, he's on right now; Hi Rev!

I agree with Sleeplady. It doesn't take long to recognize a few posters (some already posting on this thread) that seem always to have a decent prospective on most any subject without being discourteous or insulting. I too value their collective opinions and general knowledge which is why I keep on reading this board! Perhaps we should give them an occasional "thank you".:)

Are you on the Zaandam's April 6 cruise to Hawaii? If so, I hope you'll come on over to our Roll Call Thread (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=871197) and introduce yourself. We're planning our Meet and Greet this week.

If none of the San Diegans (or Rev. Neal) chime in on the parking I can suggest some spots where we've parked; we're coming down on the train from Los Angeles this time so no need to park.

I now return your to this thread's real subject matter--the Rev. Neal! :)

Hello everybody, and thank you so much for your care and concern.
I've actually not been on CC for at least a week, however I leave myself signed on so it looks like I'm online even when I'm not. :) Sorry about that. :)

And "Thank you" Jim, for letting me know about this thread.
Yes, I'm sitting in a BORING meeting and typing this on my iPhone. I wish I were not here.

Tomorrow I make a quick 2-day trip to Nashville, then "back on my head" for normal duties.

I'm well. My mother is improving. They did a procedure on her spine to correct 2 ruptured disks, and now she can walk again without pain. While she was out of commission and incapable of walking (for about 2 weeks) I was having to take care of her and pay visits to my grandmother at the nursing home.

I'll try to check back in a little more regularly. :)

Glad to see you back. Even amongst us in the fringe element (not a lot of posts), I have followed your posts on some of the more heated threads and was thankful for your even tempered responses. Love your pictures too!

Sometimes one reads over things too fast and gets a whole different meaning, or can't figure out the meaning. For instance, it took me several re-reads to see that you are the "Bombastic" Reverend and not the "Balsamic" Reverend. What the heck would that have meant anyway? I pondered that one for several weeks until I read your signature more carefully.

Sorry our Nashville weather will not be better for your trip.. might be rainy :( and the temps will be falling... again (sigh). But safe and happy journey to our fair city all the same. :)

Prayers for your mom's safe and swift recovery. So good to hear she is getting around now without the pain. Back injuries can be so debilitating and life changing.

Hi Bob, We left our car at San Diego Airport Parking (SDAP). Phone number is 619-574-1177. We left our car for 15 days is cost us something like 120.00...that would have been for an entire month, but we only needed 15 days. They took us directly to the ship and picked us up within just a few minutes when we called them when we disembarked. We would definately use them again...Very good outfit and price is right. There were a lot of cruisers using them.

Greg, sorry to hear of your mother's surgery and so glad to learn that it was successful. I know your normal schedule is usually chock full, so at the moment you must be meeting yourself coming and going. Just think, in another month things will, hopefully, have settled down and you can take a well-earned breather from your various responsibilities.

Having a cruise booked that you can anticipate goes a long way toward alleviating stress. I highly recommend it!

Thank you so much for your kind remarks, they are greatly appreciated. While I have not always succeeded, I do try to be as helpful as I can be and as accepting of others differences as possible. Thanks, KK. I appreciate the concern. It feels like it's been a long stretch since Ash Wednesday, what with meetings, extra weekly services, additional administrative duties, plus my mother and grandmother to look after ... and to think that we're now only 2 Sundays into Lent, with a month left to go!!!! :)

I love it. Yes, I know, I'm weird ... but I love what I do, even when the days are so long that I leave the house before the sun comes up and don't get back until well after the sun sets. Indeed, it's especially during the busy seasons of the Church year, like Lent, that I'm reminded of why I don't want to do anything else. I LOVE to cruise, and usually spend nearly every Vacation Day I have (5 weeks a year) aboard ship somewhere at sea; the other 47 weeks of the year I'm very happy to be able to do what I love, and I feel sorry for those who don't have that privilege.

Thankfully, my mother is improving daily, which takes a load off my mind during the middle of one of the busiest times of the year. Having just been through the stress of taking care of both my mother and my grandmother, my prayers are especially with those who have loved ones who are undergoing surgical and therapy procedures of any kind ... especially Cancer and immunotherapy procedures. May health and joy be with them all.

LOL ... thanks, pmenefee! Balsamic Reverend????? HAHAHAHAAH ... that made me laugh for sure! Thanks!

The reference to me as the "Bombastic Reverend" goes back to July 2007 and was how I was labeled by Droopy_Sails over on the Norwegian area of CC when they were having a great big laugh at our consternations over HAL's botched implementation of AYWD. It was intended as a sarcastic slap, but I adopted the epithet because I liked it. That's it's not entirely true is beside the point ... because, on occasion, it does bear at least a semblance of reality. :D ;)

Trust me, Dear Ruth, the cat will neither care nor be able to tell the difference. I've been owned by several cats throughout my life, and the invariable constant is that they view humans as a convenience, only. We have washing machines, dish washers, TVs, computers, and other appliances ... they have us. We're their staff. They can take or leave us. Indeed, they find the slavish way in which Dogs greet the humans to be most offensive.

I've got more cruising days booked this year than I ever have before in my life. And you're suggesting I book more? Isn't there something about leading me not into temptation that you're supposed to pay attention to??? ;)

1. This year is not going to be quite the banner year that last year was. This year I'll only rack up 42 days aboard Damships, last year I had my personal-best of 43 days ... a record I'm not likely to break again until I retire (special circumstances).

2. That prayer is prayed to God, not to me. :) And, I'm sure the Catholic Chaplain will be happy to give you absolution for tripping to that particular temptation.

May 16 ... think May 16, Amsterdam, Seattle Roundtrip to Alaska. It's a cold weather cruise!!!!

My tempting you is naughty on my part, I know ... I merit 50,000 lashes with a wet noodle for doing so. :D

As for Bermuda 2010 ... I agree with the others who have posted: you can always do both. Besides, Bermuda 2010 is more than a year removed from Alaska 2009, and my reasons for being incapable of doing Bermuda 2010 don't apply to you. ;) SO ... you should go ahead and book that Good Nuts Bermuda Cruise. Just keep in mind that, if you book it with the Future Cruise Consultant aboard the Amsterdam it will only cost you $100 (to book it, at least). There ... now isn't that an example of HAL logic? Why do I think Ruth already has future cruise deposits made? :D
Anyway, when I booked Bermuda, Miss G told me there was a special deposit for that cruise of only $175. I decided to use that and leave my other deposit in place in case something else temps me . I don't know how long that special was going to be in place, but it's worth a look.

Hmmm ... for that other deposit think: ms Rotterdam, October 31, 2009 ... Transatlantic from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale. 18 days. Lots of fun. Great price.

My tempting you is naughty on my part, I know ... I merit 50,000 lashes with a wet noodle for doing so. :D

Nah. You'd like it too much.

Nope. I have the October Rotterdam cruise under deposit, and I fully plan on sailing, but I don't want to put down an unspecified future cruise deposit.
I don't want to put down $$$ that's non-refundable. Wee bit of Scottish blood, and all.

Put some Alfredo sauce on it, and I'd eat the noodle ... though I would prefer it al dente rather than wet.

Hey, Ruth ... I always knew you were part Scotch and part soda, with a jigger of chocolate on the side.

I am sooo tempted. I want to go. I want to meet your mother. I feel so wicked just thinking about it.
I want to get to 500 days. I love Alaska. I like cold-weather cruises.

Ooooo. This is not good. Not good at all.

We'll be on the same Ryndam Alaska run as well. Come along and you can tell me about todays' Warwick and I'll talk about old Wickford. This transplanted Rhode Islander always wants to know what's going on these days in the motherland.

Thanks, Rita ... as has been indicated, that's correct. How have you been lately?
Busy, busy, busy too. Lots of freelance writing, a new business, and my job going to h*ll in a handbasket. We're in Chapter 11 right now. So, I'm trying to build up the other stuff to keep me going when I'm unemployed. :)

Of course, might be a great time to do that Semester at Sea cruise I talk so much about. Ummmmmm, something to think about anyway. :)

We still have to figure out a cruise we can do together. :)

Isn't there something about leading me not into temptation that you're supposed to pay attention to??? ;)
LOL ... I think it's God who is to "lead us not into temptation" ... not the Rev. :)
