I was thinking the same thing you where then I asked myself a few questions.
This is going to be my first cruise, 25th ann. why not go for it it's only money.
I said true.
Theres alot of nice perks in getting an S suite, is it worth it? I said I'm not sure but it may be nice.
I only plan on taking one cruise.. I might as well go for it.. Depends on your situation wether to do it or not. I'm not telling you yes or no. but surprises are nice. So thats my 2 cents

I think it depends on how important the perks are to you. We're cruising in two weeks on the OOsterdam, and chose the lesser expensive. We're still getting the bigger veranda, separate shower and a whirlpool tub, and more room in the cabin. If you think the additional perks, ie, Neptune Lounge, extra receptions, even more space and service are worth the $600, then go for it! I'll be spending that money on massages, watches and perfume!

Soulcruiser - Go to www.cruisestateroom.com (http://www.cruisestateroom.com) . You can pick the Oosterdam and compare cabins. The only caution with the artist rendition is that the verandah on the SS cabin is not quite what you see in the drawing. Unless you get an aft SS you'll not have enough room for two recliner lounges as shown. You do get the table and two straight chairs as shown and two padded chaise lounge chairs with detached ottomans.
We had SS 6060 on the Oosterdam and it was a great cabin for a 7 day cruise. We have a few pictures on our website at www.geocities.com/theklugspage/ (http://www.geocities.com/theklugspage/) . We're going on the Celebrity Galaxy next March for a 12 day cruise and we opted to go with a full suite for that long of a cruise. It's a personal choice and since we only take one cruise a year we decided to go for the gusto.
