Trying to decide which to sign up for. I know that the sea otter and wildlife quest gets frequent mention. We tend to groove on scenery/flora more than on the animal part of scenery. Is that boat excursion recommended only if one is very interested in animal sightings-- or is the scenery spectacular enough and different enough from what one sees from the Mariner that the excursion is highly worth doing anyway? (I know these calls are subjective.) We enjoy walking/hiking and love forests. If we choose to do some sort of walk instead of the boat tour, I'm wondering which of the hike excursions has best scenery. Thank you.

As I recall, the sea otter quest was mostly for viewing the wildlife. We enjoyed it immensely, but you are not near shore, so it was the otters and the whales that were the highlights for us.

Isn't it odd that two people can have diffeent memories of the same thing? My recollection of the sea-otter quest is that we mostly coasted around the shore line, going to some islands, finding the kelp in which the otters live. We did follow out sightings of orcas, and indeed had the best views of whales in all of our Alaskan trips on the sea otter quest. It was a wonderful excursion with memorable views of the extinct volcano overlooking Sitka.

Nevertheless, I suspect it may not fit your requirements, poss.

Signed up for this one. Any thoughts?
