Funny question. So does anyone have a distinct desire to sail feet or head first on the ship??? If you sail with your feet towards the bow do you feel like you are sailing backwards!? Or, vice versa. LOL.

When I close my eyes I don't know which way the ship is going. ;)

I have only sailed on two cruises. The first, the foot of the bed faced the bow, the second( aft/wakeview cabin) the side of the bed faced the bow. I had no sense of which way the boat was going unless I was on the balcony or looking out the window.
But I have heard some people do select their cabin on which way the bed faces. Maybe it's a Feng Shui thing:)

We've sailed both head first and feet first, as well as perpendicular. The "ride" was comfortable in all directions, except when we encountered rough seas and I wasn't feeling well. I finally changed our orientation on the bed so our heads were facing toward the bow(which meant we weren't rocking side to side) and it made me feel so much better. DH couldn't care either way, he can sleep standing up if necessary.
Smooth Sailing! :):):)

We've had all three ways (feet, head, sideways) and it made no difference to us ... except one night, trying to find the bathroom door on the wrong side! :o

We've sailed in all three configurations (I had to think about it for a moment) and never even thought of there being a difference in the "ride". I can't tell which direction we're sailing unless I look outside. :)

Ah....finally an explanation of why I prefer port side cabins, and vaguely feel they're "better", while others swear by starboard.

My husband laughs at me because when we book a cabin it has to be starboard. I have to have the ship "sailing" to my left. Meaning when we're on the balcony the front of the ship is on my left. Its weird, strange and bizarre, but so am I. :p I can't sail port side at all. Go ahead, call me nuts, it wouldn't be the first time. :D

When I read "feet first," all I could think of was, "how they carry you off the ship."
