We have been offered the all inclusive drinks package on the Destiny for £169 each. We are travelling in September on jewells of the med. That's £24 perperson per day. Quite a bit of drinking. Is it worth it?
Is it likely to come down in price later? I was offered it after calling them, i booked on line though and can find no details on their website.
Any advice gtaefully received. Good forum, up to date and very informative :)

Only you can answer that, it depends on how much you will drink. We found it to be worthwhile and we are not alcoholics. A couple of Latte coffee's in the morning and a few glasses of wine with your evening meal will cost half of the daily amount before you even start to have some soft drinks or cocktails.
I loved going down to the bar while the missus was getting ready and having a couple of drinks and a chat with other guys doing the same. I also took the wife a couple of Baileys down she liked to drink in the cabin while getting ready. So for me the answer is yes, it is worth it, for you though it might not be, you will have to do the maths
Have a great cruise :)

Hi Luluchan:)
Like john_1 we find the AI drinks package worth the money. We've paid £298 each for 2 weeks on the Destiny starting on Sunday which is around £20 per day. You'd be surprised how quickly the cost can build up and if you're not AI it's a bit of a shock at the end of the cruise. With the AI you don't have to worry about it.
But as others have said, it's all a matter of personal choice.

Also remember this includes all your soft drinks throughout the day , so for us who will be at sea 7 days it was definately worth it and with cocktails £3.00 a pop wouldnt be long in spending £20.00 . but again up to you . see the post on page 2 with the most up to date bar list ,it might help you decide

I dont think its worth it either, we made use of the free tea and coffee and water in the day and just drank at night, didnt spend nearly that much on drinks.

Hi
just returned from the spirit on the red sea cruise, we refused the AI drinks package & we came close to the  2 x 169 budget, so i say for that piece of mind i'm taking the Ai on our next trip.
it is very easy to drink on the boat, you go to the bar get very cosy, order your first one for night (cos your not having many) then the next thing you know its 2am the show was good, the comedian awesome & your struggling to walk back to your cabin. Typical night on board:D

I think we would maybe pay for the AI package if we had the option, but our cruise doesnt have that option (think to do with travelling from UK-Newcastle).
We will see how it goes.x

Just booked red sea magic for next january and got a free AI upgrade which is good as I consider it an additional discount on the original price. Plus I will have wine with meals and lots of soft drinks in addition to the booze. :D

We always manage to get a free AI option because we book early- its invaluable! On holiday you can easily drink to excess! Not just alcohol though, soft drinks during the hot days too. I have noticed, thanks to a post with the Celebration bar list, that AI drinks differ on Spirit and Celebration. Does anyone have handy the bar list for the Destiny so I can see which of our favourite tipples are included in AI? Thanks

Glad we have the AI free for next year, paid £69 on our last cruise, thought that was good value

Hi,
We had AI on the Island Escape last year. It was included in the price. They gave us a receipt for all the drinks with the price on, even though it said AI on it too, so we knew the price of the drinks.
When we got home I added them all up (sad or what??).
They came to much less than the difference between what we paid and the saving we could have made if we'd booked last minute and paid for all drinks.
Saying that, we've booked early and got AI for our December cruise, mainly because our 2 sons are coming with us and son No.1 can neck a pint of Stella straight down. God help his liver. Anyway between the 2 of them they can drink enough and still be standing to justify the extra cost this time. :-)
I think it just depends on the individulal. We saw one couple a few days into the cruise who had got in with the barman and had a bottle of wine set up ready for them at 10a.m. as soon as the bar opened.

I have just posted the A.I. Drinks list for the Island Escape from last year on the Island Cruises board. I knew I had it somewhere. I don't suppose it will be much different.
