I just found a room for 68 on orbitz.com for February 11th, 2005. It is located at 301 camp st.

Is this a good hotel and location? We are in town for 1 night and would like to see the French Quarter and ride the street cars. Since we won't be in the room very long I do not need an expensive hotel, just one that is clean and within walking distance to the French Quarter.

Has anybody stayed here or have any advice?

You did well. This is a nice older hotel that is near most anything you would want to do/see. From there, you'll be able to walk the Quarter easily.

Has anybody stayed at this Hotel? How is the breakfast? Should we eat at the hotel, find a local place (any suggestions), or eat on the ship. How early can we board the ship?

We are booked at the La Quinta on Dec. 11. I will post after cruise to let you know about hotel, things to see, etc.

From Camp to the FQ is walkable without limitations but many blocks to most attractions. You could also consider the Riverfront street Car to Jackson square for a few block saving. :) They sell one day passes for all public transportation - consider the St. Charles for nice scenery.

I stayed a week at this hotel first week of December- just excellent rooms and breakfast very nice. Laundry on 6th Floor. Walkable to St. Charles Streetcar,Canal Streetcar, Riverfront Streetcar, longer to FQ, but I walked all the way to Frenchman 3 times for nighttime shows, and the Praline Connection twice. :) I always take the city bus from the airport and easy walk from Elk, with my small quality rolling bag. Easy to also take the Canal Streetcar.

Hi p5woody,
We had a great time, we sailed on the Dream. Although, if you read some of the post apparently some people were on a different ship from us. I only wish the weather had been a little more cooperative.

The La Quinta was also very nice. The rooms were large and we had breakfast included each morning. No eggs, but waffles, bagels, sweet rolls, etc. It wasn't too far to walk to French Quarter or Harrah's. I would stay there again. Also, on our post cruise stay I expected to have to check luggage and not get a room until 2:00 pm. But, we arrived about 10:30 am and were given a room right away. IMO you can't go wrong. Hope this helps.

Thanks to both of you for the information. I am starting the count down to Feb. 12th, that is when we set sail on RCCL Grandeur of the seas.

Just a quick update for anybody thinking about staying at the La Quinta on camp st. We stayed there 2 days pre cruise and had a great time. We were able to walk everywhere. We are 36 and in okay(but not great) shape so walking was fun for us. Since our luggage had wheels, we even walked to the pier. It wasn't a bad walk at all.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The room was great, the staff was great, the location was great and the breakfast was so so, I have had better and I have had worse.

for 68 dollars, I think you will have a hard time finding a better deal.

Hi p5woody, Glad you had a good time. Seems like forever since our cruise in December:( . Glad you liked the La Quinta. We are going back in Sept for family cruise with daughter, SIL, and grandkids. For the price you can't beat it. IMO.

that the LaQuinta was good. I booked our king room about 2 months ago for about $71 per night for 4 nights in mid October. I did alot of research and it continually got good marks. We are light breakfast eaters, so the continental breakfast they provide is more than plenty for us. I guess I didn't even think about walking to the pier but I guess it's not terribly far away. I got this hotel because of the location and (I know this sounds wierd) but for the on site laundry. We won't have to pack for 2 weeks this way. We're going on the NCL Sun on Oct. 16th. Can't wait!!!!!;)
