In an attempt to woe back some of the mariners who have left HAL for whatever reason, HAL is now offering two levels to their promotions: one to mariners and the other to mariners with 3 or more cruises.
This action appears to be limited to longer cruises and is not on all cruises.

Interesting. I would hope they are looking into several different ways to recognize their faithful repeat passengers in a meaningful way.

Hmmm.....Wonder what they are offering to people with 40 or more cruises? I suppose nothing. They probably figure they own us :) and don't have to bother wooing us???!!! ;)

Where did you hear about this, lknick?

Where did you hear about this, lknick?According to Super, I have no contacts with HAL, therefore I must have just made it up...
Except that I just reduced my 21 day fare by 16%.

We have 9 cruises with HAL. Today I received a letter from no less than A. K. Lanterman offering "special" prices for mariners only aka Promo #6029. The problem is that the prices are hardly special!! I checked the Cruise TA site run by his wife Janet and found 8 prices less and 7 the same as the "special" rates offered to mariners only. Anyone can do better elsewhere than taking A. K.'s offer
I find this kind of poor marketing offensive and insulting. Even the Chairman diminishes the mariner program.
Don't believe that HAL shows any preference toward the people who have been loyal over the years. We are just another mailing list. Do your homework!!

Do you have a promo number for this? (3 or more cruises) Also, does anyone have a promo number for any type of cabin credit that could be combined with other promos as well as Carnival shareholder credit?

Hold on. I got the same letter and I'm not quite ready to jump to quick conclusions. The letter lists qualifiing cruises on the back. On the front you are given a telephone number to call or told to call your TA who is to call. When I go through the proper procedure and get the prices then I will decide if this is a real offer with substance to it.

One is the early booking price (available to anyone) the other is a Mariner price. I don't see anything about a better price for "2 voyage" Mariners.
And I find it hard to believe that HAL would be switching back to counting voyages rather than days - but stranger things have happened.

I posted this information thinking it may be of help to some. Instead, I have been questioned on my source [as if I have done something wrong], HAL has been lambasted for questionable marketing and their decision to tie the promotion to voyages also questioned.
I just don’t get it. Why not just accept a good deed and verify it yourselves.

I will look forward to your conclusion after you "go through the proper procedure".
On the way I would suggest a visit to
http://www.csiseattle.com/crew.htm and check out the best values compared to the rates posted on the back of the letter you received from A. K. Lanterman.

I certainly wasn't commenting negatively on your post. I was refering to another promo from HAL under the thread that you started about "HAL wants us back".
I simply offer another example that might conflict with the theory implied by your post.

Neither do I...all I asked was where you got the information from, mainly because I hadn't received it myself.
Sheesh now I definitely know why I don't post on this site that much anymore. Everyone seems to want to show up the last person by posting something negative or degrading just because they THINK they know more than the next person. This whole message board is starting to sound a lot like the childish behaviour your would expect on places like Yahoo. Grow up people! If you have nothing nice to say, don't bother saying anything and save us all from the attitude.

Thanks for the heads up Ilnick, I do hope HAL decides to offer it's most faithful more perks as I understand Princess does!
P.S. Is it a full moon????:p

No one questioned your veracity. And I, for one, tried to verify it from other sources, but couldn't. Naturally, then, I would ask for your source so that I could begin the trail again. AS the Gipper always said, "Trust, but verify."

I would suggest that people who are truly interested call HAL or their TA and enquire what promotions are available for Mariners with more than 3 voyages.
I feel no obligation to identify sources on what I post on a public bulletin board.

Lou, I appreciate your post. I checked my next cruise and didn't find a lower price :( , but it could have happened!
Maybe next time? Maybe? :)

None of our upcoming three cruises are any lower either but I can keep hoping the prices may drop at some time before we go.
