Has anyone been on the Westerdam in the very back of the ship? We are thinking of booking one of the aft cabins on the Verandan Deck. Just wondered how big the balcony is and if it is covered or partly covered? This will be our first cruise on Holland America. Going to Mediterranean Barcelona to Rome. Thanks for any help on this ship. Should we get a cabin on the side?

Thanks, :)

We were on Westy's twin, Zuiderdam, twice. Our second cabin was 6167 on the wake, and we really loved it. The verandas are triple size or better, and the only covered verandas are on deck 8. We suffered no noise, soot, unusual vibrations or voyeurs... the problem now is that we are hopelessly spoiled. It was such an amazing experience we have booked a Cat A on the wake for next week.

Would agree with Candy. We were on the Zuiderdam last month in 6165 and the balcony is huge! I am a wake watcher when at sea as I find it very peaceful and releacing. The aft veranda allowed me to do that in privacy (well, except for anyone looking over the railing.) The veranda was large enough for two full size lounge chairs, 2 chairs, and a small table (perfect to put your room service tray on) with room to spare.

We have already booked another aft veranda on the Westerdam for next December as we enjoyed it so much.

Thanks for your replies. I think we will keep our aft cabin and see how it works out for us. :)

We had an aft cabin on the Zuiderdam - 8128. The balcony was huge but the stateroom was smaller than the side suites. Also, it is a far walk to the Neptune Lounge. We didn't use the balcony as much as we thought we would and the room was a little small for the 3 of us.
