I switch between several cruiselines - and gone totally blank on this - does HAL have balcony dining like Princess?

Not to my knowledge. But you CAN just order room service and eat on your balcony. We did several nights on our two Alaskan cruises - and it was wonderful! Sure, the table is small and you have to balance your plate or tray on your lap, but SO WHAT??? All that gorgeous Alaskan scenery, whale tails and fins, and late, late sunshine (up until 10PM in early June) was well worth it for us! Not to mention being comfy, cozy in a robe and sweats - yup, that's my kinda balcony dining!!!:p

If you're lucky enough to be in a suite, rather than a regular balcony, dining becomes much easier - there's a table for 4. I've had course by course dinner served on my suite balcony, courtesy of the concierge and the dining captain. We picked a night when the ship was docked in port late - much better than the windy conditions when you're under weigh/way.
