i have sailed with carnival five times in the past and am currently booked on the Celebrity Summit in january. i booked that cruise the day before celebrity and rccl restricted crui**quick from discounting. i got a great price and am glad i jumped on it that day.

i understand that carnival is going to do the same thing after december.

does anyone know if HAL plans that too? can anyone share info on the newest HAL ship(s) sailing or any ships that will be sailing "new" around september 05?

also, can anyone share if they know of a big bargain on one of these newer ships?

we prefer the caribbean but would also sail out of california if the itinerary and price was right.

looking forward to some insights here.

HAL's next new ship will be Noordam. She will be the last in the Vista Series and is set to debut about January 2006, I think.

Will HAL follow the others in regard to no on line discounting? Who knows? But probably sooner or later. IF all the others start doing it, logic would say they, too, will. Much may depend upon how healthy bookings remain.

If heaven forbid there were to be some reason why folks stopped traveling again, that assuredly would influence those sorts of decision IMO

The Carnival corp. has announced a restriction on advertising cut prices. This isn't the same as RCCI which will "kick you out" of the program should you give cut prices.

That's my understanding. Carnival has said a TA just cannot advertise a rebated discount rate.
