Hi,:) I am not on your cruise but would suggest going to see
the Maitr'd after you board the ship. I have heard Carnival
is very good about seating solo's together. Go see the Maitr'd
and they are normally quite helpful with your type of request.
They can usually tell you who will be at your table and you
can talk to them about it.
Also, did you book through Carnival or a Travel Agent?
Put the request in with whomever you book with and it will
give you a head start before you even sail:)

If you go to dinner?? I always go to dinner~its one of my
favorite parts of the day:)

Normally Carnival is very good about sitting singles together whenever possible. Like Lois said, you can always go to the Maitr'd to find out who's at your table after boarding the ship. Or you can go to your assigned table and if you don't care for your tablemates, you can see the Maitr'd afterwards to change tables.

The one thing that I have noticed is that more singles tend to go to the late seating.

Have a great time on the Destiny! I went on her in January and had an excellent time!

Don't worry, the first time cruising by yourself can make you a little nervous when you're thinking about it. However, at least for myself, I'm used to it and do enjoy the fact that I can do what I want when I want to. I normally do meet a bunch of people on the cruise in addition to the people from the roll call.

My only problem with Carnival is that they placed me as a solo at a table with young singles. It was awkward, but they were very nice people. Not being single, but seated with young singles. Much younger, besides.

Towards the end of my cruise, I met another person traveling solo. He was seated with a family, and had a great time.

You're correct that sometimes Carnival does put different age groups together. I've been at tables with people younger and older than myself but I actually enjoyed their company so I stayed at the table. I did make a mistake in my statement about placing singles at the same table, actually they try to put people traveling solo together. However, I have been put at tables where there were mother and daughters traveling together.

You probaly will be seated with others unless you make specific arrangements to not do so. Even when I am traveling in a party of 2 or more, I'm usually seated with others.

the table #'s, and who, their age, language spoken, and whom traveling with. MD might let you "shop" for your choice of table. I used to, but now I always have the same one, and same chair..so I takes me luck!

You do want to be careful. My last solo cruise was my brithday cruise and I thought I would be seated at a large table with others but instead I was seated at a table for 2 in the midst of tables for 4. I felt really awkard when the serving staff came by to sing me Happy Birthday. It just made it obvious to the other diners that I was all alone. Luckily I have a thick skin and just tuffed it out instead of asking for a re-assignment. This time, I specifically asked for fixed dining and to be seated at a table with other solo cruisers.

Have you checked out the roll call for your cruise? I have met people through my roll call and arranged ahead of time to be seated with some of them. Takes a bit of the "scariness" out of it.

and being the outsider person. DH and I went on RCL..our 1st table was 2 families..DH/DW, and 4 kids..tho they were all very nice and polite, we didnt fit in because they were busy cutting meat, ordering etc...and made their own company..the 2nd table..was a treat..all 5 couples H &W's no kids..all over 50..I always have my same table and chair, so the MD puts loose singles with me. I never have had kids there, but mixed couples of every decription. Always have had great mates at my table..dining late usually g'tees no kids.

I went on my first solo last February and was seated with 2 other solos (closes in age) and one couple. There were 2 other ladies (that were sailing together) at our table, but they rarely showed up. We had so much fun at our table and many nights this continued after dinner.

I met so many wonderful people and got involved in the activities. This was my 10th cruise and I must say it was the most satisfying one. Next solo is booked for October 09. Can't wait! And I'm thinking of the European cruise for 2010.
