We thought about coming with fewer clothes, but would have to have our laundry done once we are on the ship. What is the turnaround time for laundry and dry cleaning for the S Suites?

Thanks for your help.

I recall from July on the Zuiderdam that you need to have the bag in the hallway early (8:00) in the morning and they return the laundry late afternoon the next day. So you are without the clothes for essentially 2 days. I made the mistake the first time of NOT taking inventory of the clothes so we were put off till the following day. I LOVED the suite, but personally I like the self serve laundry facilities on the smaller 'dam ships! I can do the family of 4 in 1 hour and a couple of bucks instead of 2 days! But the suite was fabulous!

I too like the self service. The laundry from the suite took as long as three days and then only when I inquired where it was. They also seem to wash everything in very hot water and shrank one of my pairs of pants so much they were not wearable. OK-granted I gained a pound or two, but not that much!

On our recent Crystal cruise, the self service laundries were free and they had regular full size washers, not the small take forever kind many lines have.

On our Oosterdam cruise this summer, generally if we gave the laundry to our steward by 8am, we had it back late the same afternoon. Everything was cleaned, pressed and folded to our satisfaction. We were very happy with the laundry service.

I was very happy with the laundry/dry cleaning service on the Oosterdam this past January and on the Maasdam this past August. I sent clothes to the laundry twice a day (as soon as I took clothes off, I inventoried my husband's and mine, placed them in the bag, left bag at the foot of the bed, and the steward took it when he made the room in the morning or when he provided turn down service in the evening.) I always check the "rush" box on the inventory sheet, and everything came back the next day. One time I forgot to check the rush service, and it took 2 days. My husband loved the service because they ironed his underwear.....not a service he gets at home! :D

I am taking half as many clothes as I usually take for my upcoming cruise on the O next week because I was so happy with the service in the S suites.

Hope this helps.

On the Ryndam in September, we gave the bag to the stewart around 9AM and both times got the laundry back the same day.

We have just returned from the Prinsendam where we took the laundry package. If we had our laundry out by 9am it was returned around lunchtime the next day. One day, obviously they were very quiet in the laundry and we received it back a few hours later.

There is a choice in that you can get same day service for a small fee. I am not sure if that applies to the suite passengers.

On all the other "dam" ships that we have been on, we turned our laundry in by 9 AM and got it back that afternoon (marked "same day service"). But because the Statendam had a problem with a steamer on our recent cruise, no one got their laundry back right away - not even those of us in the suites. It sometimes took 2 - 3 days before we got laundry back.
