I heard you can remain in your cabin until it is time to leave the ship, is this true? Also what is the complaint with balaconies on Vista class ships on HAL?
I'm new, I have alot of questions!!!!! Westerdam 2/06/05

Yes, under a new policy all passengers may remain in their cabin as long as they want. Well, until their disembarkation number is called anyway.

What balcony complaint are you referring to? I have read (never had a balcony myself) that some balconies on the Vista ships are not totally private, and some are smaller than others, but I don't recall reading about other complaints.

They were similar to what I had heard. I also read that the ship is very noisy due to fan blowers, etc. I suppose we'll find out in Feb.

We loved our cruise on Westerdam. We had a B balcony and it was fine. Noise? I don't remember any noise.

i think the issue was whether the balcony had a clear see-through railing or a railing that obstructed the view when you are seated.

Apparently, some cabins on Vista class do not have the see-through kind, and I think it had something to do with the cabins that are set in the hull.

I know that the Queen Mary 2 has the same issues as one of our friends sailed on her this summer and was in a cabin with a "faux" balcony which is something resembling french doors and a very narrow platform.

Perhaps someone who has seen it first hand can reply and describe.
