Changes after final payment

Hello,

I tried calling HAL, but they are closed for the holiday. Hopefully the pros here will be able to help me with my questions.

My final payment is due tomorrow and will be processed with the card on file. My dad is currently deciding on if he wants to join us on this cruise. We would just be adding him as a third passenger to our cabin. Our current cabin category is not a triple, so we would need to upgrade our cabin status if he decides to join. Can this upgrade be done after final payment is made or would we have to make a decision tomorrow?

Also, if you book a triple do you have to book a specific room or can you book a triple as a guarantee? We are currently in a guar.

Changes can be made at any time based on the maximum occupancy of the ship. I hope someone can give you a more definite answer but my understanding is that due to the number of triples/quads available they can not be booked as guarantee.

When you call on Tuesday -- ask what cabins are left that can have 3 passengers -- also explain that it will be 3 adults.

They will be able to tell you what is still available -- you will have to book a pacific cabin at that time -- no guarantees at this late date.

You cannot book a guarantee with 3 people. This happened to us when my nephew decided to come along on a cruise. We were told that a guarantee has a two person maximum. A specific cabin has to be booked that will sleep 3 people. If you upgrade after final payment you may find there is no cabin available in the category you want and you may have to go on a wait list.

Thanks for the help. I did talk to HAL today. The previous posters are correct, you cannot have a guarantee with 3 people. They said I can upgrade after final payment, you are just not allowed to downgrade. There is room availability, so now just need to decide.
