Question regarding gym facilities

We are so excited about sailing on Holland America Line for the first time, and, especially, the re-furbished Veendam to Alaska! :D

I just have a question for seasoned HAL cruisers. Does the spa area have larger showers, a steam room, and sauna available no charge to passengers? Is there a charge to use the gym equipment? :confused:

Don't know about the spa but there is no charge to use they gym unless you do personal training or take some of the fee classes. I've been on the Veendam before and unless they change it alot, the gym is just adequate and fairly small. DH kept hitting his head on the ceiling when he was on the elliptical! They have decent weight equipment though.
