Hi everybody,
This is my first cruise with HAL (7 day Eastern Caribbean aboard Ms. Oosterdam) and I have heard & read some...let's say...less than favorable remarks about Dutch Night. Because of this I was wanting to book the Pinnacle Grill on this night, but was wondering when that night might be.
(FYI: I did call HAL Ship Services to ask when Dutch Night was-but she said that they only tentatively knew when it might be.)
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I had no problems with Dutch Night, except for wearing a hat that made me look like an umpire. The food was fine and everything else went well. The menus use Dutch names for the food, but there is a translation underneath and it's quite good stuff.
I know there are stories about people getting drunk and drinking toasts out of their partner's (or partners' -- depending on how wild they are) wooden shoes. I also know that the wilder pax sometimes wear Dutch Cleanser Girl costumes that are quite revealing. And I won't even get into the guys sticking their fingers into dikes.

We too enjoyed Dutch night! If you never have experienced it, you shouldnt miss it. The food was great and the hats were fun too, I brought ours home and gave them to the kids. I hope you reconsider and try it, you just might like it :)

Until they offer Dover Sole in the Dining Room, we go to the Pinnacle on Dutch Night. The east/west menus by day and port are in my sig below.

I wonder if you can dine at the Pinnacle and show up at your table in the DR for dessert?

Gretchen (Gliles) just got back from the Oosterdam Eastern and Dutch Night was Wednesday (St. Maarten). Take a look at her review just to verify, but I'm sure that's what she said.

Presently aboard the Rotterdam, disembarking tomorrow, and we had no Dutch Night. We did not miss it. They had Dutch food sprinkeled throughout the cruise on the menu at night.

Gayle...
If you see this in time and if you happen to run into the Rosario Strings, I gave them a clipping of The Girl From Ipanema (NY Times) and wish them well. They are three nice people.
