We have a tile from the Noordam, probably about 10 years old and noticed how much thicker it is than the Ryndam one from last year and the Oosterdam one from this year. Once we have enough to do our bathroom, that will become a problem ;)

I have quite a few tiles and will be leaving tomorrow on the Statendam where I
expect to get a couple more.
My question is what do others do with them? I am afraid I will never get enough to tile the bathroom. lol

Hi!
I have an antique pine dry sink and I now have almost enough to cover the bottom with HAL tiles...in fact, I only need two more!
That's enough incentive to book another cruise, especially a ship that we haven't yet sailed on like the Oosterdam, Ryndam or Westerdam!
Other uses for tiles...trays, coffee table tops, mirror surrounds......
Best regards,
Carol Ann Westbrook

We replaced two of our wood kitchen cabinet doors with leaded glass. Since these are the cabinets with pieces of Delftware collected on cruises, we tiled the cabinet back with HAL tiles. Many were from cruises which we had taken. the others- and here is a source of tiles for those who have projects in mind but are short on tiles- were purchased on E-Bay. Getting them on cruises was, of course, more fun.

We use our tiles as drink coasters. They are attractive and work well.

If you use them, you'll have to put a thicker coat of adhesive underneath to level it up.

We noticed the thickness difference as well. Our tiles from 2001 and 2002 are noticably thicker than the 2003 and 2004 tiles. You may have to put some kind of shim or spacer behind the thinner tiles to keep them level with the thicker ones.

The tiles have gotten much thinner over the years. So we will have to lay extra grout when we go to place them on our bar top.
Hope HAL doesn't start to reduce them in size - then we will have a problem.
