View Full Version : Question Re SS Suites on Oosterdam

We're booked into an SS suite on the Oosterdam next spring. Every drawing of the SS suite I've seen (on the HAL web site) makes it look like the bed is placed in a corner of the room so that one of the passengers is right next to the wall instead of next to an open area/aisle (or whatever you'd call it) Thus getting in and out of bed is difficult/restricted for one of the two passengers. Is this the way it is on the ship or is this just an inaccurate drawing? Thanks in advance.
Gonna cruise soon

I also had that concern and posted a simular message, many responded that there is a night stand (you just can't see it). We do not sail til next summer.

The drawing is not correct. There is a nightstand on both sides of the bed and sufficient space so you don't have to crawl over the other person to get out of the bed. Drawing also makes the verandah look a little bigger than it really is. Unless you get an aft cabin you'll not have room for two recliners and instead will get two padded chaise lounge chairs with detached ottomans.

Is there an electrical outlet next to the question side of the bed and/or other side?

There is an electric outlet in the corner of the desk by the bed. I remember using it to recharge our camera batteries. There may be others on the headboard wall above the bed but I don't recall.

Thanks Randyk47, does anyone else know of other outlets by the headboard and which side?

The only electrical outlets are at the two desks.

We just came off the Oosterdam and had an SS suite. It was lovely. There is adequate space to get in and out of bed ( approx. 2 feet?) This is a very comfortable room. We asked the steward to remove one of the chairs which gave us even more "walking room". There is an outlet across from the side of the bed not in question which is by a desk with a window. We took a power cord with 8 outlets and put it in the area which is sort of like a bay window and this worked out perfectly. This just happened to be the size power strip I had but you could get away with a smaller one. More than enough outlets for battery chargers, electric shavers, hot rollers and all those "must have" things. HA HA! Since our granddaughter was along we even plugged in a baby monitor so we could have her asleep in her parents adjoining room(while we were on baby sitting duty) and hear if she cried. Worked out great....and she didn't cry......rocked to sleep by the sea!
The balcony was very comfortable. 2 chairs with ottomans and a small table in between and also a table and two chairs for eating if so desired. If you order room service, and wish to have one, request a tablecloth because they do not bring one. Just write it on your request form. Also, they do not set up your table, just drop off the trays but I bet if you asked they would do so. We had a wonderful cruise and I hope you enjoy yours as much. :)

Nautical wheeler,
What type of baby monitor did you use and do you know if it worked if you were sitting on the deck outside ? We are taking a grandson in April and I'm trying to work out how to monitor him when he takes a nap. He won't sleep if someone is in the room and we don't have adjoining rooms. They are 1 floor apart.
