Hi all. I cruised for the first time in 2008 with my brother and SIL on the NCL Pearl. We had a great time but for 2010 we're thinking of trying another line. I'd love some input on how NCL compares with HAL (we're thinking of the Eurodam). We're looking at a balcony cabin. On NCL we were in an oceanview. We did find the music by the pool on NCL drove us kind of crazy as it was way too loud. Just wondering if that's a problem on the Eurodam. Also, is it hard to get a lounger and are there quiet spots to get away and relax? The prices seem a little higher on the Eurodam than looking at a similar cruise on NCL. Just wondering if it's worth the extra money. Thanks-Janice

I have cruised 5 times with NCL and have enjoyed each cruise. However, after being on HAL 3 times, I appreciate the quietness of HAL. There are very few announcements, and boarding the ship is quiet. On embarkstion day as you board the ship, NCL seems to have less people to help you find your way to your cabin, and therefore, it causes more chaos.
The many choices of places to eat on NCL is fantastic. IMO HAL grill food is better and also, the lido buffet food with a better traffic flow. There are many flavors of ice cream with no additional charge. Popcorn with the movies is also a nice feature. The rooms are also bigger on HAL.
Enjoy your cruise.

You will find HAL much more traditional than the freestyle of NCL. Your Hal experience will be a bit quieter but als a bit more sophisticated. Most rating services have HAL at least 1 1/2 stars above NCL. Thats not to say you don't have a good time on NCL.
