Are the ships computer and accounting system setup to see your daily running total of account purchaces like they do at most Hotels.

Not on HAL or Princess. Celebrity was set up that way.

Sadly, no. And you can't book excursions or make restaurant reservations, or do any other convenient things either. The TV is just for watching. :(

You can go to guest services anytime and get a printout of your seapass account. We do this about every other day to make sure it is right. There can be mistakes, and after a few days, it can be hard to remember just what all you have purchased.
When they redid the tv's, it would have been great if they could have added this amenity. It is great to have.

Carnival has this now. Very convenient. You would think that since it is all the same company, the others could add it easily.

You would think that since it is all the same company, the others could add it easily. Yes, one would think so. I guess it just shows how independent each line is under the Carnival Corp. umbrella. The Princess website is outstanding, IMO, in showing your cruise and allowing you to modify your preferences, check your cruise credit balance, etc.

Why don't they offer interactive TV on all ships?
1. It costs $$Millions to install.
2. It frequently breaks down.
3. If they don't offer porno films (pay per view) it never pays for itself.
4. When passengers can easily see what they have spent so far, they tend to spend less.

When I am cruising, I am never interested in depressing TV viewing, and my on-board account is always too depressing!:(

I know when sailing on the Miracle in 2006, I used this to check my balance prior to going to bed. On my fourth day, there was a charge that wasn't mine. I went to the purser desk and had it taken off (it was a rather large bar tab and so happen I was in port that day during the time the charges were made).
Since HAL is under the Carnival corp you think they would offer this.
I know that some people say, just head down to the front desk to check, but it's rather nice to do so in the cabin.
Happy sailing!!
LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!! 7 days until I sail on the Carnival Fantasy!!
But in 2010, I'm back to HAL!!
