Right now it is against the law, but temporarily would it be a good idea for lines to cruise California ports?
San Diego, Catalina, Los Angeles, San Francisco?
Back in the 1930 the ss Yale and Harvard ran between SF and LA and they were very popular.
Here is a pix of the Yale entering SF with the unfinished GG Bridge

The Cape class "packet boats", two of which where built for the now defunct Delta Queen Company were designed for just such coastal cruises.

There were to have been four, American flagged; two on the East Coast and two on the West Coast, but 9-11 happened just after two were built.

They sat fallow for years, and have just recently been sold, and are to be based in Florida. Present plans mention selling the cabins as "condos", and sailing primarily on the East Coast.

Too bad, I would have loved to sail the West Coast on one of them.
