Am thinking about this ship for either August 2005 or October 2005 when the kids are off 2 days of school for Rosh Hashannah.
We will be traveling with a 13 yr old and 10 yr old. Is this ship kid friendly? Is there a movie theater on board? We've sailed Disney twice and it is time to try something else and Zuiderdam seems to offer great prices.
Thanks in Advance

As HAL is trying to cater to the younger crowd I would have to say that the ships are kid friendly....as long as the kids aren't hanging around with others who insist on disturbing a perfectly peaceful time at sea by everyone else.
There are movies shown onboard and there is also Club HAL if you wanted to stash them there for the week. :)

If the past kid-count during August 2003 and 2004 is predictive, you can expect from 20-25% of the passengers to be below 18.
My personal experience during August 2003 says the kids were well handled by HAL and for the most part were seldom seen. Of course, if you looked, you could find some who were not well behaved but they were the minority. [Of course, 'well behaved' is in the eyes of the beholder. If jumping, splashing and giggling in pool is not 'well behaved,' then there were more.]
In October, the kid-count drops to aproximately 5-10%. The same club HAL activities are offered.
