View Full Version : Eurodam Deck Plans Changing Oct 10?

I was just looking over the deck plans for the Eurodam and noticed that it says something like "effective till October 10, 2009".

Does anyone know what changes are being planned, if any?

Our cruise is October 17, so it will be interesting to know ahead of time if anything's changing.

Our cruise ends Oct. 10 and the next cruise starts that day so there isn't a dry dock. DD and I looked at both the before and after deck plans on the HAL site. We didn't see any differences, but there must be.

As far as I can see they're just changing the category designation for some rooms:
10005 & 10006 change from SZ to SU, priced above SS and below SC
5093 & 5098 change from SY to SZ
4011 & 4012 change from NN to N

If you check out the Lido deck you will notice they are adding more cabanas, another row on the starboard side and they look to be a bit bigger than the existing ones. This of course means you won't have a clear ocean view from the Lido pool area, you will have to look through someones cabana.

Where can you see the new plans?

On the HAL site, when you go to the 'our ships' and deck plans, it has the current deck plans and the proposed deck plans, the dates are beside them.

You are correct :) Do you think perhaps they intended to do cabanas on both sides originally but thought better and never altered the plans? The design pics are identical, that is my thought :)

Thanks - found the before and after pictures. Didn't realize that both were listed there by date.

If I was a tiny bit more obsessive, I'd analyze some of the main decks to see what's changing, but I can't figure out how they'd do anything major since the ship will be in operation then.

The design pics are identical, that is my thought :)Yes, I think there was a change of plans. The cabanas on the port side are not actually positioned as shown on the diagram either. They actually start about mid-pool and run into the forward port corner.

There has been such a negative reaction to the port side cabanas blocking some of view and limiting the number of tables that I don't think HAL would now add starboard ones that block all of that side. At least I certainly hope HAL has more smarts than that!! :D

If I was a tiny bit more obsessive, I'd analyze some of the main decks to see what's changing, but I can't figure out how they'd do anything major since the ship will be in operation then. When those before/after plans were first posted I did go over them carefully and saw nothing different except the cabin designation changes I mentioned in post #3.

Incorrect -
The SU category is at the bottom of the price/ranking for the Superior Verandah Stateroom categories as the bathroom, the sofa and the verandah are all smaller than those of the SS/SY/SZ staterooms.

On my April 25th cruise I overheard they are getting rid of the cabanas on the portside of the ship and there will be no cabanas at the lido pool, just upstairs at the retreat.

I don't know if this is true or not...the cabanas on our trip seem to be popular.

Let's hope this is true, but I'm not optimistic that HAL is going to remove anything that makes them money just for the comfort of those who aren't spending money aboard ship.

If they want the cabanas on the ship, I would prefer they moved them to the starboard side. My biggest issue with them is that the port side was the only side you enter/exited to the bow elevators. They don't give you much privacy as well due to the fact that everyone was always walking in front of them.
