Booking on board

Can we book a HAL cruise while on board a Carnival ship? Celebrity and Royal Caribbean allow an OBC for bookings made at sea for any cruise line in their family, but I don't know if it works the same for the Carnival cruise lines. We have a Carnival cruise next month and I wondered if it made sense to wait until then to book the HAL cruise we want to take. I asked a similar question on the Carnival board but got no response. Not to my knowledge. I know you can't book a Carnival cruise while on a HAL ship.
The two lines, as well as the other lines in the Carnival "family", are competitors. Having sailed on one line allows you the opportunity for a "family" discount on price, should one be available, but other than that, there is no particular reciprocity between the lines.
