We are thinking of booking a Deluxe Veranada suite on the Zuiderdam. Have heard that you get extra perks for booking suites. We are wondering what perks these may be for an s cat suite? Is it things like free laundry service and no charge liquor ? Thanks in advance for help

You get the free laundry, but no free liquor. They do have the Neptune Lounge for S and PH suite guests with free hors d'oeuvres and continental breakfast and free cappucino and espresso. You also get priority embarkation and disembarkation.

Just returned from Oosterdam last Sunday, E Carib. S Suite cabin 7053 near Neptune lounge. No free liquor. However, we did have two suite cocktail parties where you could order anything you wanted and a luncheon, all with the Captain, Capt. Mercer. We found the best perk was the free laundry and dry cleaning service. Usually about a 24-36 hour turn around. We received fresh fruit and flowers daily. The balcony is very nice room enough for table, 4 chairs and two larger chairs with ottomans. Bathroom has whirlpool tub and there is a seperate shower.
This was our first time on Holland America and eighth cruise overall. We have sailed on Celebrity, NCL, and Carnival. Given the fact we had an S suite on this cruise we find that Holland America is certainly comparable to, if not exceeds, Celebrity..
If you have any other questions please feel free to E-mail me.

Has anyone stayed in Stateroom #7047 or #7048 next to the Penthouse Suites (on the Vista ships)? I was wondering how they are - if you liked them?

Stayed in 7048 on the Zuiderdam in April of 2004. I chose it on purpose because I was hoping for more privacy on the verandah with on wall next to the penthouse as a solid wall like on the S class ships. Well, it was a thicker wall, but there was still open space on the top and bottom. Because of the angle of the PS, it was possible to look into their verandah and at the outdoor spa if you wanted to. They too could see into part of your verandah. All of that said, it was an excellent location and I am booked in 7048 on the Westerdam next year, so I obviously would choose the suite again. I just got off the Veendam on Saturday in an S suite. Overall, the verandah on the S class ships is far superior. I think overall I like the S suites on the older ships better.

Thanks Goldsmip for the reply. I had already booked #7048 and began to wonder about the shape of the PS verandah - if they would be able to see us on ours. But if you're booking the same room twice - it must not be that bad.

We were also in 7048 last Nov. We thought our room was great except for the one evening when the ocean was very rough. There seemed to be an excessive amount of creaking and noise from the walls. These were the roughest seas we were ever in so possibly the noise was in all rooms. One evening the Penthouse Suite was having a party and there was quite a bit of noise on their balcony. I think it was their bon voyage party. After that, things seemed to calm down and no noise out of the ordinary. I don't think we would book next to the Penthouse again. We were in 7055 in July. We were concerned about it being so close to the Neptune doors but it worked out great. We were able to pop in and out quite easily and found that we enjoyed the Neptune more on this trip. Enjoy your S, they are very special and definitely make your cruise more enjoyable with all their extra amenities. We are lucky to be able to sail in them. Have a great cruise!

I think you will find this cabin choice is wonderful. I perfer the deluxe suites on the older S class and Rotterdam class ships. However, you will have a wonderful time on the Vista class ship.

Enjoyed our cat. s on the Zaandam. Nice to put the dirty clothes in the laundry bag and have them cleaned and pressed at no additional charge. Also enjoyed the private dining room for lunch and breakfast, Kings room on the Zaandam. Several invitations to cocktail parties, special Pinnacle room brunch, menus for the evening meal in our Cabin each morning. First in line for the tender to Half Moon Cay. Room service very quick with the mention of the room number. If you use the various extra services, and enjoy a very large cabin the price isn't so bad.

How long ago were you on the Zaandam? My understanding is that they discountinued the Kings room meals a short while ago. I was hoping they started it again. Also, I was excited to hear about a Pinnacle brunch. Is that a new trend? It seems that sometimes different ships do different things. I guess nothing can be counted on nowadays. We just have to see what happens on each ship.

We were in 7048 on the Westerdam for a BTB, and it was a great suite. The only negative - was the suite to our left were heavy smokers and loud talkers. We like to relax or nap on our balcony in the late afternoon, about the same time they wanted to come out and smoke/chat.

Hi, Pjhusk:
KCat asked his/her question almost 2 1/2 years ago! Did you look at the dates? Why did you revive this ancient thread?

I looked at the date the minute I read the above. The Oosterdam was a long way from the E. Carib last Sunday and Captain Mercer is on holiday.

Once you have a Deluxe Veranda Suite (S CAT) there is no going back. We had it on the Osterdam in 2004 2 weeks to the Panama Canal. ABSOULTELY WONDERFUL. The Neptune Lounge is great because you do not have to go to the front dest for anything you can do it all in the Netpune Lounge. Plus the laundry was a great perk, less to pack. But the large room and balcany was great!!! Booked the same a deluxe suite on the Maasdam 10 days in Oct.
Enjoy yours
