Hi Guys, I have found out I have Cabin # 157 Cat. B on the Verandah Deck. On the Statendam. Is this a pretty good size? My TA keeps calling it a suite is it actually? Also I finally found The sea bands there is only 1 in a box, How long do they work for? I will be cruising for 2 weeks, will they last that long? and I have found the bonine pills but only in the chewable form, do they come in a swallow pill? If so I will keep looking. And finally, Is there any problem taking on ship (no flying-driving to ship terminal) non-persciption meds? re: claritan, ibprofen, dimatapp, midol?? Thank you all for any input and help you can offer:) Christine

Christie,
The A and B categories have been called verandah suites in the past but they are what I would call a mini-suite with a nice separate little
"living room "and balcony. They do not have the benefits of the full suites however. The B cabins are very large by cruiseship standards and are very comfortable with a small fridge and jacuzzi tub. The sq ft including balcony is over 280 sq ft. The standard outside cabins "C" and below average about 189 sq ft +/-.

You can also take any medications onboard that you require.

You can see your stateroom at www.cruisestateroom.com (http://www.cruisestateroom.com) It tells you the approximate size and what it includes and you're able to compare it with others.

Have you tried ginger capsules for motion sickness? They really work, they're completely natural & NO dizziness or drowsiness. You can get them at any health food store.

Statendam is a great ship. You will like it. We have Cat. B #133 and 135 reserved for our upcoming trip to Hawaii and they are nice cabins. Looks like yours is above the end of the Explorer's Lounge, but I doubt you will hear the music from below.

Seabands are sold in pairs. There should have two bands in the package you purchased. If there were not, you should return and purchase a complete set. They do not work unless you wear the two; one on each wrist placed as described in the directions.

You can bring any over the counter medications with you and certainly any prescription medications that have been prescribed for you.

Enjoy your cruise. Have a great time.

We had a cat B cabin on the Statendam in April of 2002. It was a wonderful room, very comfortable, roomy, and had a wonderful balcony. We loved it.
The bands we have aren't medication, they work on pressure points on your wrists, I believe they would last forever unless they get stretched out.
You will thoroughly enjoy your catB cabin. Ours also had a VCR and a minibar that was stocked daily. The liquor was not free, you had to pay for it at the end of the cruise. The steward kept track of how many bottles were there. We didn't use ours. At that time they were still allowing us to buy liquor in the ship's store and take it back to our room for a 20% surcharge, so we did that our first night on board.
Now it sounds like they don't allow you to do that. But you can order a bottle through room service from what I've heard on these boards.
Anyway, you will love your cat B stateroom!!
'Til we sail on Rotterdam,

Good for you for booking a category "B" mini suite. You will appreciate the roomy cabin space and the lovely verandah. Bring some bath salts for the jacuzzi bath. Have a wonderful cruise.

Sorry ... disregard, just saw the answer in another thread :o

Does HAL offer bath amenities in Cat. A? Shampoo and conditioner?
