The HAL website lists horseback riding as available on HMC (I'm So psyched) but it isnt listed as a bookable excursion for my specific cruise. Are they just waiting to make it available or what? If I don't get to go im gonna be one sad cruiser.

No one has reported the horse back riding as being available yet. Keep checking this board. You could also call Hal and ask.
Some time in Dec there is supposed to be a "big to do" at HMC for all the additional things that are to be added. Maybe the horses will be available at that time.

I just called HA and they said that the new excursions needed to be booked on the ship since they are so new. Hope this helps.

We received our travel documents yesterday and noted that in the Excursions Booklet there is a Stingray excursion at HMC. Is this really available now?

The stingray adventure isn't available online either. You would think that HAL would have them all available at the same time for booking. :(

Hi! I just returned from a trip on the Oosterdam (10/31-11/7). The just begun offering Horseback riding ( you have to likey purchace it on the ship since it's so new).
Later during the cruise, the captain mention that the following were upcoming additions to HMC, but gave no timeframe.
1. Stingray experience
2. Kiddie water play area (they were about 80% complete from what I could see)
I hope this helps

Thanks so much for the information!:D We just signed up for the stingray excursion ($39) for our Dec. 3rd HMC visit. There was also Aqua Trax rental which was about $59 for a 1/2 hour riding time plus instructional time. Looking forward to the activities!:)

HAL has done well at keeping the prices of these excursions down to a comfortable level. After swimming with the stingrays this summer with Nativeway I might just spring for the $39 swim at HMC in March. :)

I really want to do the horseback riding, but I can't swim. Has anyone done an excursion like this before? Do I need to know how to swim?

I booked the horseback riding excursion on-line for our 12/12 Westerdam cruise. The cost is $69. If I remember correctly there are four different times for this activity. They will provide some sort of flotation device/vest so that non-swimmers should feel secure. All the info is available at the shore excursion tab on the HAL website.

I remember reading somewhere that floatation belts are provided but you should feel comfortable in the water in the rare instance (HAL's wording) that you should fall off :)
