Car rental and other questions....

Hi all - Hope someone can help. After searching the boards, I've come to the conclusion that only Avis has rentals at the pier. When I go online I can only do a rental for the airport -must I call Avis locally to do a reservation for the pier?
We're interested in seeing some sites but mostly going to Cas Abou.
Anyone been there recently that can comment on the amenities?
I've gathered from reading that driving is "safe" in Curacao but the signage for the roads is
lacking...we're trying to look at that as part of the adventure :).

I booked mine online with no problem last week. Looking at my reservation, the car rental facility you want to ask for is Curacao Mega Pier -WM2.

We have rented from them before, and everything went very well. We had a great time.

Hi, you should be able to do this online. If all else fails, call the 800 number and make sure that you get the international department. They should be able to book it, if the internet does not work for you. That's the whay I ended up doing it, and we had no problems when we got there.
Check your settings or Wizard number when making online reservations. They may exclude you from doing so.

Might I ask. How did you map out the things you would like to see? Do they give you a booklet? I know the places we would like to see but trying to decide if we would be better off doing it with a tour or doing it on our own. Any help would be great. TIA

We are on HAL's Noordam in December and will be in Willemstad until midnight. We've never rented a car in the Caribbean, but thought we might try it in Curacao. I'd like to get feedback from those who have rented a car there. I checked out the Avis link and it looks fairly reasonable price-wise. Is the driving on the left or right side of the road? US Drivers license OK? Any other international rental info I should know? Signage? Any information would be helpful!! Thanks!

Just got reply email back from AVIS stating that they're out of rental cars at the pier the day we're there. Any other ideas for getting to Porto Mari and Cas Abou from the pier without losing an arm and leg with a taxi? Thanks for any advice or tips.
