I received a message that Oceania had changed our hotel in Buenos Aires from the Marriott to the Sheraton. Can anyone verify that? What is going on with this cruise line? I've cruised tons, and I have seen more changes with this line and less responses than I have ever on any other line. I am beginning to have reason for concern--a lot of concern.

I'm not going on your cruise, but if I were you, I would not get too bent out of shape over the switch in BA hotels. The Oceania web site lists both the Sheraton and Marriott as "extension" hotels - so they had agreements with both before the switch.
If I were you however, I would look into getting my own hotel rather than through the cruise line - they are charging a lot - you could get same hotels for cheaper price, or fairly equivalent hotels for much cheaper - (going by prices listed on their web site).

Where did you hear that information? Checking at the Oceania website for the hotel packages it does give certain dates as to which hotel will be used for which cruise. What date is your cruise? Sheraton has two dates as does Marriott.

Going on the Insignia, December 17th Valparaiso/Antartica/Buenos Aires. We were originally booked in the BA Marriott. After some thought, calculations and checking with the Marriott we found that price-wise it was pretty much a wash (ie., adding transfers, taxes, etc.) to take the Oceania Package rather than go on our own. Our travel agent also called to tell us that we were switched to Sheraton. I have found the two hotels (at least domestic properties) to be pretty much equal. These are the chances we take. It is a busy season - I'm just happy to have a place to stay while touring Buenos Aires. This doesn't curb my enthusiasm a bit!

TA spoke with Oceania today and we are still at the Marriott while others with whom we have been in contact are at the Sheraton.
Sorry, didn't mean to imply negative thoughts altho it read somewhat like that. This is just the first time I had heard of switches, but I suppose that could happen. As much as we travel, just haven't had that happen. No, my excitement is not dampened.
