box lunches

does HAL provide box lunches for passengers who request them? this is private touring days, not HAL sponsored tours.
I know I could take a muffin or two from Lido, but just wondering.
in the Baltics, is food allowed off the ship? I know in some ports there is a large sign stating No Food! off the ship.

I wasn't in Europe on HAL but I can tell you that no fresh fruit or veggies were allowed off the ship in the islands. I'm not familiar with the practice of ships packing box lunches for their passengers leaving the ship on any cruise line but I suppose it could happen.:cool:

Just don't drink the water.

Remember to take strays. Cans are in a cooler soaking in local water.

in the Baltics, is food allowed off the ship?We did 2 days of private touring in St. Petersburg last summer. DH still drools at the thought of our lunch at a 'pie shop' near the Hermitage. That salmon pie was wonderful - and something we wouldn't have had in a HAL boxed lunch. Our group of 6 ate in local (non 'tourist') restaurants. We were the only tourists there and we wouldn't have missed that experience for anything.

Don't know if this applies in the US but we were told on one British ship that they can no longer do packed lunches on some of their excursions for Health and Safety reasons. Makes sense I suppose - food away from fridges perhaps in a hot climate.
