Since we are awaiting our first SD cruise in December (a long long wait!) we have no memories to get us thru this long dry spell -- unlike most of you! Perhaps you could revisit some of your favorite memories so I can live vicariously thru you until December?

How many times have you been on SD? What is your typical length of time in between cruises? Does the crew change much? Are there many Captains? How does the spa compare to others you have been on (sea and land)? Has the SD experience changed much during your time cruising with them? Any favorite little things you do while on board? Do they really remember you when you return for another cruise? How is the boarding process? Please share any fun stuff you can (yes, I've read the past 5/6 pages, just looking for anything new to keep me from going crazy).

Come on friends -- you helped get me into this predicament. I need a fix and it's way to quiet here. I've trolled the web and seen pictures and articles. I don't think there is anything else I can read, so PLEASE help me out. Give me some tales!! :)

Thanks,
Art

Ok Art. It has been unusually quiet on the SD front for a while now and, if you have read all the posts on the first 5/6 pages, you have been a busy boy. We are booked, I think, for the cruise immediately before you, SD II 29 November to 4 December. Also cant wait. Have you seen the numerous SD videos on YouTube? Some are quite good. This will be our 6th SD with others in Mexico (a short lived but much enjoyed itinerary) and the Med. You could do the med for years and years with no repeating. And then the Caribbean. IMHO, no one does the Caribbean better than SD. One of our best memories was taking the helicopter from Antigua to Montserrat for a close up view of the volcano and its massive lava field and then that evening having Capt. Berg take us out of the way a bit to do a sail by of Montserrat at night. What a view of the glowing lava! We actually sailed through the ash cloud. volcanic ash in a martini tastes a bit peppery to me!. The next morning, as usual, the ship was spotless, no ash in sight. I also love the eggs benedict at breakfast (though not on the menu-just ask) accompanied, if needed, by a fresh bloody mary. My norm is to gain a pound a day. (Easily accomplished). Ok, I am sure others will weigh in on this topic that we all suffer from. Once you sail SD, there is no cure--only the continuing addiction that must be fed from time to time.
All the best,
Jim & Lois.

Thanks Jim!! I love it. My wife asks me everyday, "Is it time yet?"

We are planning to book the 11/29 sailing if it is still available. I am yearning to be on SeaDream again. The problem is, I want to go on my beloved SDI and that trip is on SDII. Oh well, I can adjust. I won't know if the crew would have remembered us though.

I tried the Swedish massage and the minty foot scrub (I think that was the name) and while both were lovely, the foot scrub was amazing, more relaxing and way cheaper. Next time I may book one a day.

Like you Artlee, I was anxiously anticipating our first cruise, but fortunately, I did not have as long a wait as you. I think you may be torturing yourself by reading too many wonderful things about SD in the interim.

I do not think anybody could actually not have a wonderful time on SD. I'm sure Seabourn, Silversea and Regent cruises are amazing, but I would be content to never set foot aboard any other ship but SeaDream.

Make sure you take the Cinque Terre trip offered. It is well worth it.

I'll look into that. We are wanting a relaxing trip, so not sure how many excursions we will do beyond just "wandering". With my Father and his new hip, we can't get too active when he is with us.

We took the Cinque Terre with my Mother in Law (80 at the time) and her 90 year old Boyfriend. They made it ok but there was considerable walking on one section. Not bad hiking type walking but quite a distance with spectacular views. Other than that one walking section, the trip was in a boat with a few village center stops for light walkabout type walking. Hope this helps.
Jim.

Sounds awesome. Wonder if Seadream keeps a stock of wheelchairs available or scooters....

Sorry for the delay in response to your request for info Art but I was busy preparing for our 25th wedding vow renewal and reception back home in PA.

Poor DJ's DH (in more ways than one right now:p)wants to know how come we had to have another renewal this past weekend since we just had one on SD2 in March.

We have cruised 4 times on SD (twice on SD1 and twice on SD2) all in the Caribbean. I agree 100 percent with Jim that no one does the Caribbean better than SD!!

We cruise every year to 18 months ... sometimes in November sometimes in March. Our last two trips have been in March and we have had higher and more active seas than we had in November. I'd love to cruise more often but there is this silly thing called money...

There are 4 captains ... two for each yacht. We have sailed with the Capt. Berg once and Capt. Tysse twice. The first captain we sailed with is no longer sailing on SD.

The crew does change. SD does promote from within. We have seen some of our favorite staff promoted to provision masters, head bartenders, maitre d's and hotel managers.

The spa treatments on board SD are some of the best on land and sea! I particularly love the reflexology treatment while sitting on the beach or overlooking the pool from Deck 4. The Thai therapists are wonderful!

Our SD experiences have been wonderful each and every time ... there are special moments and memories we created each time! I suspect you have read about some of them if you have followed my trip reports:p

In terms of favorite things ... ours include watching sunset from the TOY Bar or from the pool deck. Spending the day reading, relaxing and resting from a Bali bed or in the "Office" at TOY Bar. Star gazing after dinner from a Bali Bed. Talking with old and new friends after dinner at TOY Bar or if the bar is noisy on a Bali bed. And of course there is singing in the Piano Bar after dinner:D I could go on and on ...

Yes ... we have had officers and crew remember us from other trips. I suspect some of them even talk about us after we leave:p

The boarding process is so wonderful and stress free. You simply turn in your documents at a check in table, walk up the gangway to meet the Captain and Club and Activities Director, receive a chilled towel and a chilled crytsal flute of fine French champagne.

You are then show to the main salon where you can snack on some wonderful bite sized creations from the galley before being shown to the concierge area where your photo is taken for your id card. You are then shown to your stateroom by one of the wonderful housekeeping staff.

Sheesh ... just writing about it is sending me into withdraw:eek:
