I'm sorry if this has already been asked but can't get thru all the pages.. Are there coffeemakers in the rooms (OV)? My DH loves his coffee and just want to know what we have in store.

No coffeemakers in any cabins ... room service is available 24/7.

There is a cafe on board to get specialty coffees such as lattes, cappuccino, espresso, etc.

No coffeemakers in rooms on any ships I know of. Fire prevention is the #1 concern of all sailers and shipowners! Lido (buffet area) has coffee 24 hours a day. You can take a large mug, covered drink container, or thermos and fill it there anytime.

Some of NCL's suites have them (espresso makers). I know everyone get's on the "fire" bandwagon here, but I never heard of one fire on a ship from a coffee maker (actualy never met anyone who had their home drip coffee maker burst on fire either). I wonder if the real reason for no coffee makers is the mess from the grounds? JMHO;)

How about a hot water heater in a crew cabin on HAL's Nieuw Amsterdam, in Alaska May 23, 2000: http://www.ntsb.gov/publictn/2001/MBR0101.pdf

Sorry Peter but didn't read the whole report but did read that:
The National Transportation Safety Board determines that the probable cause of
the fire on board the Nieuw Amsterdam was the unauthorized use of an electrical appliance
that had been left unattended and plugged into an electrical outlet in a crew cabin.
I could see a 220 V coil get hot enough to cause damage, as well as a 110 V curling iron or a burning cigarette (niether banned). Just thinking a 110 drip coffee maker (they come with an auto time off now) is much less likely to cause a fire then the other items. But as I said, JMHO;)

Maybe when you have a coffee machine and a camera batter charger and a phone charger and a lap top and a blender all plugged into one strip and maybe add in an illegal iron and clothing steamer...

Look, I am not saying a coffee maker can combust (but it is possible, I am sure), but where does one draw the line?

LOL... I hear you Peter. It's kind of a moot point anyways but I think we both hope everyone does their part in making a safe cruise;)

Yeah, I'll trust that as much as I trust everyone to behave and be respectful of others on a cruise. :D

Maybe one of these days we can meet on a diving trip or cruise and discuss this more. Think you will find that trust and respect;)
Take care,
John

There is a cafe on board to get specialty coffees such as lattes, cappuccino, espresso, etc.... but it doesn't open very early ... around 8:00a typically
