We are fairly new to cruising and have only sailed on HAL twice. Both times on the Oosterdam to the Mexican Riviera.
We will be sailing the Eurodam on 2/6/10 to the Caribbean to celebrate my 50th birthday in January. This will be a family cruise with my sons joining us.
What are the things you found interesting on the Eurodam - or things you didn't enjoy?
We will be doing the Eastern Caribbean going to Grand Turk, San Juan, St Thomas, and HMC.

Happy Birthday.... Hope you have a wonderful time on Eurodam.
We sailed her two weeks in March and loved the ship and crew. We particularly enjoyed Tamarind and Pinnacle Grill. Silk Den is a beautiful addition to HAL ship.... one of our two favorite spots for a cocktail.
The aft pool on Eurodam with Slice (pizza station) was great. Plenty of shade and/or sun to please everyone.
We loved the decorating in Eurodam's cabins. A new direction for HAL and we found it very tasteful and attractive.
Explorations Cafe was far better than we expected. When we heard it was next to Crows Nest it seemed strange to us but found it works and Explorations is really nice on Eurodam.
Beautiful flowers throughout the ship and interesting, varied art.
Psst.... We enjoyed our cruises on Eurodam so much we are booked for two more weeks and one is the week you are sailing. :)
Hope you have great cruise.

Tamarind is #1 for us. Also liked the Retreat Cabanas.

Going to the Piano Bar for the nightly entertainment was one of our favorite things to do after dinner. The Pinnacle Grill was also very nice. Actually this is such a nice ship, it's hard to say....everything was great!:)

Sail7seas -
How great you are sailing with us!!!!! I love it when we can meet up with people from CC. Last cruise we got to sail with LaffNVegas and WanderingWinos as well as many other great people.
Now, I'm really looking forward to sailing Eurodam!!!

We also loved the Silk Den and Ramarind Restaurant.
One thing we didn't like -- the cabanas by the Lido pool.

We loved the Silk Den and Tamarind. One of the big items on our 'don't like' list - the cabanas by the Lido pool. OK, maybe those are on our hate list.

Have to agree with everybody's enthusiasm for Silk Den and Tamarind.
While a lot of people express their displeasure with the Lido cabanas, they occupy the port side only. Few people mention how nice the starboard side is. We enjoyed relaxing afternoon times there having an excellent burger.

I'm originally from Mississauga!! My dad is down here visiting for a few weeks as my oldest just graduated from the University of MN.
I'm hopeful that when he goes home my husband will miss him so much that he offers to pay to take him on the cruise with us. My dad spends the winter months in Florida so he just has to drive to the port which would make it pretty cheap for us to take him with.

Dr. Justin Miller, a guitarist extraordinary. If he is one of your performers don't miss a single show!:D

Dr. Miller and the Tamarind are about the only things that would get us back on Eurodam. He is WAY more than a guitarist (http://www.justinmillerguitar.com/), and Tamarind is a gem (dined there three times in a 14 night cruise).

The two best things about the ship are the Tamarind Restaurant and the Silk Den lounge.
The two worst things are the Lido Cabanas and the Pinnacle Lounge (looks like someone went nuts with an erector set ).

Yes, Justin Miller is fantastic. Quite the music/show biz historian, too.

We don't go to many shows but we made it a point to see all of Justin Miller's. He is an amazing entertainer. Outstanding!

:) I agree when we first saw those stools, I did a double-take but once we sat in them, we got used to them. We actually went to Pinnacle Lounge at least 4-5 times during our cruises....not just when we were dining in Pinnacle.

We're home after 28 days on the Eurodam and really enjoyed her. We found that after a few days that we were looking for a new place to hang out- strange thing - the flowers in the Silken Den were beautiful but very fragrant - could not stay because of allergies - not a biggie - more of a surprise. I thought the cabanas would be a deal but actually did not notice them and did not mind- they have moved the tables from that area to the area in front of the spa. We usually love the piano bar but the guy who came on at the beginning of our voyage was loud and not much fun- his idea of a sing along was listen to him and sing one line - that is if you still could hear.
The set up in the Crows nest is very with comfortable chairs scattered about. We really enjoyed the pool area because they adjusted the retractable roof according to the weather each day and it was never crowded. The chairs on the upper promenade are very comfortable too and if it was not windy - a great place to relax.
It is a beautiful ship with an excellent hard working crew.

Liked most: The Tamarind, Silk Den Lounge, and the reading lamps over the bed.
Least liked: the cabanas, the bathroom spigots and the electrical outlet in the bathroom (what were they thinking?). The atrium thing is also pretty yucky.

Right. Clearly, they weren't thinking when they put the plug up too high for anyone to reach it.

As many others have mentioned, the Tamarind is excellent. We also loved the Canaletto's Italian food. The Slice Pizza was good and the outside grill for burgers were great. Our room service meals were also very good. With all the different dining options on the Eurodam we surprised ourselves at the end of the cruise with the fact that we never dined in the main dining room.

I'm not crazy about the ceiling in the dining room. It isn't as elegant as other HAL ceilings IMO Rather strange looking, actually. :)

The atmosphere, service and the menu.:) Try going for lunch as well as dinner. Lunch is a fixed and excellent meal.
