Hi everyone. I just booked on Mon for this sun on the OOsterdam, Western Caribbean, im am really hoping that we stop in the Caymans! Im being very very daring! Im 46, separated, need a vacation! going all by myself! I love to talk & listen , so im sure tht I will make some new friends. I will be @ a table for 6. This is my 2nd crusie, I went on the Disney Magic Sept 03 with my 2 grown adult children. I love to snorkel, taking my own equipment. Since I am self employed I need to check my email, & keep in touch with my employees via email. Should I bring my laptop? dont really want to bring it, I understand that there is a internet area to use-anyone know what the charge is? but I also read on the HAL site that they have wireless areas on the ship, Any suggestions for me?? thanks Val S. PS anyone know anyone that fell in love for real on the ship??

Price for wireless connection or use of the terminals in the Internet Cafe are the same. But wireless does allow you to be in a more relaxed area (even the Crow's Nest lounge on the O'dam!) to do your work. Details available here (http://www.mtnsat.com/ds_kbyg_hal.htm).
Bon Voyage!

Val,
How wonderful that you are taking this cruise. Good for you. You will meet many wonderful people on a cruise. Cruising is the best vacation for singles. May you have calm seas and sunny skies. BON VOYAGE!!!!!!!!

Speaking as a mid-40's single woman who travels solo, these have been my love/lust observations: Cruising generally offers more romantic opportunities for men. The single women outnumber the men by a considerable number. Longer cruises tend to attract an older clientele with men being in even more short supply. Several cruise lines pay men to serve as dance/social hosts on longer cruises just to give the women a chance at a twirl around the dance floor.
I'm sure people have fallen in love on cruises. However, the more likely scenario for a single female passenger is a) a fling with a crew member hoping you will be his ticket to a green card b) a fling with a gent many years your senior c) no fling, no zing but a really great vacation
The guys really have it made on cruises. I have seen some pretty revolting men hook up with some very attractive women just due to the supply and demand issue. However, there is always an exception to the rule.

I can't imagine a better vacation for a single than a cruise. I've taken three cruises now as a single traveler and I love it! I'll gladly pay the single supplement for a cabin to myself. This way I have a place to retreat to at night ... where I have my privacy ... but still have all the socializing I want on the ship with a boatload of really nice people. Best of both worlds in my opinion!
Have a great cruise with gentle breezes and calm seas ...
And ... blue skies too!
