Hi
We stayed there several times before the hurricane and it became a hilton, and then once this past April.
Very nice facility. Love looking at all the nice boats and yachts that tie up there. There is a Walgreen's nearby for last minute items. It is right at a water taxi stop
The one downside is that there isn't a lot of places to eat nearby. There is one restaurant in the facility, and a bar/restaurant outside around the pool area.
Hope that helps.

We stayed there once, and found it to be lovely. We didn't arrive till the afternoon before the cruise, and felt no need to leave the premises. Everything we needed was right there. The view from our balcony was breathtaking.

I have never stayed there but I must try it sometime. If it is near the Water Taxi, I can go someplace nice for dinner.

The water taxi stops at that hotel and will take you practically anywhere in Ft. Lauderdale. You can take it to Las Olas Riverfront and there are restaurants there. Even if you opt not to take the water taxi, there are many hotels within a couple of blocks, so it is easily walkable. We like 15th Street Fisheries. It is right on the Intracoastal Waterway next door to the Hilton. The downstairs is casual and less expensive; upstairs has even nicer views, but it a bit pricier, unless you go for their sunset dinners (i.e., early bird).

We stayed there a couple of times over the years. The first two times we had a balcony room though we paid full price. Very nice. The last time, we got a reduced date and we're stuck in another area of the property which was not very nice. A moldy/oldy room. Make certain you're in the newly renovated rooms.
As to dining, not too impressed. For lunch, the deck was nice. Other than that, you have to take a long walk, get the trolley or take a taxi.
In the 'for what it's worth department", we've been staying at the Renaissance lately and have been quite satisfied. A few more bucks but a more enjoyable experience plus no surprises. The downside, no balcony.

I just got the Renaissance on Hotwire for $100/night for January 2. I think we got a good deal. We've never stayed there before...we usually stay at Hyatt Pier 66, but I figured for the price, we'll be happy with Renaissance and the location is good.
